PAL Robotics to debut new manipulation robot at ICRA 2026

April 24, 2026 by David Edwards

PAL Robotics is set to unveil a new robotic platform at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA 2026), where the company will also showcase its latest systems through live, interactive demonstrations.

The event will take place in Vienna, Austria, from June 1 to 5, bringing together researchers, engineers, and industry leaders from across the global robotics sector.

PAL Robotics says its focus this year is on demonstrating how robots can move from research environments into real-world applications. At booth 067, visitors will be able to interact directly with robotic systems rather than simply observe them. [Read more…] about PAL Robotics to debut new manipulation robot at ICRA 2026

Texas Instruments interview: The hidden engineering challenges behind humanoid robots

April 22, 2026 by David Edwards

In the fast-moving world of humanoid robotics, much of the attention remains focused on high-profile prototypes and demonstration videos.

Yet behind the scenes, a quieter but equally critical layer of innovation is taking place – one rooted in semiconductors, sensing, control systems, and the underlying architectures that make physical machines viable at scale.

Texas Instruments is one of the companies operating at this foundational level. Established in 1930 and long associated with American industrial and technological development, TI has evolved from its early days in oil exploration electronics into a global supplier of analog and embedded processing chips. Interview: Jabil on scaling humanoid robots from prototype to production

April 16, 2026 by David Edwards

Humanoid robots have long captured the imagination of the robotics industry, often framed as the next major leap in automation.

But as the technology begins to move out of research labs and into real-world environments, the conversation is shifting. The question is no longer simply what these machines can do, but whether they can be built, deployed, and maintained at scale.

That shift brings companies like Jabil into sharper focus. While not a traditional robotics developer, Jabil operates as a large-scale manufacturing and supply chain partner, working behind the scenes to turn complex product designs into commercially viable systems. What makes robots feel alive? Human-robot interaction expert Sarah Sebo explains

April 10, 2026 by Sam Francis

As robots become more expressive and socially capable, the line between machines and living characters is starting to blur. From Disney’s lifelike Olaf robot (main image) to interactive droids inspired by Star Wars, recent developments highlight how far robotics has come in replicating human-like behavior and emotion.

But what actually makes a robot feel “alive” – and why do some machines feel natural while others fall into the so-called “uncanny valley”?

To explore these questions, Robotics & Automation News spoke with Sarah Sebo, assistant professor of computer science at the University of Chicago, whose research focuses on human-robot interaction and the social, cultural and technological impact of robots in everyday environments.
