Lumos Robotics tops global benchmark test for zero-shot embodied AI

July 7, 2026 by Sam Francis

Lumos Robotics says its Prime R0 industrial embodied AI model has achieved the highest overall score on the latest MolmoSpaces leaderboard, outperforming larger models from competitors including Nvidia and research teams from the United States.

The Chinese robotics company said its 2.8-billion-parameter model ranked first across both single-arm fine manipulation and dual-arm collaboration tasks in the benchmark, which measures zero-shot embodied AI performance in previously unseen environments.

According to Lumos, Prime R0 surpassed models including Nvidia’s 16-billion-parameter Cosmos model as well as entries from researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Princeton University, despite using less than one-sixth as many parameters. From backflips to folding laundry: How X Square Robot is building the missing ‘brain’ for embodied AI

June 17, 2026 by Sam Francis

While robotics companies around the world continue to showcase humanoids performing backflips, running obstacle courses, and dancing on stage, one Chinese firm is pursuing a more difficult – and arguably more consequential – goal: teaching robots to operate in the messy, unpredictable environments where people actually live and work.

According to X Square Robot founder and CEO Wang Qian, the industry’s hardware foundations are largely in place. Humanoid locomotion, dexterous hands, and force-control systems have all advanced rapidly. The remaining challenge is intelligence.

“The hardware is largely there,” Wang said. “The real bottleneck is the brain.” [Read more…] about From backflips to folding laundry: How X Square Robot is building the missing ‘brain’ for embodied AI

ShengShu unveils world action model to offer ‘infinite possibilities’ for robotic intelligence

May 15, 2026 by David Edwards

ShengShu Technology has unveiled Motubrain, a world action model that replaces multiple task-specific systems with a single, unified model that functions as a robotic brain for the physical world.

ShenShu describes Motubrain as one brain that offers infinite possibilities for robotic intelligence.

Ranking highly on both WorldArena and RoboTwin 2.0, two of the field’s most rigorous benchmarks in embodied world models, Motubrain marks a decisive shift in an industry where robotic systems are typically built from task-specific or specialized systems. Google DeepMind unveils Gemini Robotics 1.5 to bring AI agents into the physical world

September 26, 2025 by Sam Francis

Google DeepMind has launched Gemini Robotics 1.5, a new vision-language-action (VLA) model designed to help robots perform complex, multi-step tasks with greater autonomy and transparency.

The release includes two complementary models: Gemini Robotics 1.5 and Gemini Robotics-ER 1.5. The former is DeepMind’s most advanced VLA system to date, capable of turning visual input and instructions into motor commands.

Unlike previous generations, it generates reasoning steps before acting, allowing robots to explain their decision-making processes and adapt more effectively to new environments. [Read more…] about Google DeepMind unveils Gemini Robotics 1.5 to bring AI agents into the physical world
