Nvidia unveils open humanoid robot platform for robotics research

June 11, 2026 by Sam Francis

Nvidia has announced the Nvidia Isaac GR00T Reference Humanoid Robot, an open humanoid robot platform designed to accelerate research and development in physical AI and general-purpose robotics.

Unveiled at Nvidia GTC Taipei, the platform combines a Unitree H2 Plus humanoid robot, Sharpa Wave tactile five-finger hands, Nvidia Jetson Thor onboard computing, and the company’s Isaac GR00T software stack into a single reference design.

The new platform aims to address one of the biggest challenges facing humanoid robotics researchers: the fragmented process of integrating hardware, collecting data, running simulations, training AI models, and deploying robot capabilities in the real world. Fanuc strengthens Nvidia partnership for AI robot simulation and digital twins

May 18, 2026 by David Edwards

Fanuc has further strengthened the integration between Nvidia’s open robot simulation reference framework Nvidia Isaac Sim and Fanuc’s robot simulation software RoboGuide, enabling intuitive operation within a virtual factory and realizing highly accurate, seamlessly integrated digital twins.

At the International Robot Exhibition held last December in Tokyo, Fanuc demonstrated the technology that imports robot motion simulations created in RoboGuide into Nvidia Isaac Sim, reproducing precise trajectories and cycle times in a virtual environment using the same control algorithms as the actual robot.

Today Fanuc announces, with the enhanced integration, the two systems are now more tightly integrated, delivering an even more practical and efficient simulation environment for robot testing and virtual commissioning. Accenture invests in General Robotics to advance physical AI-powered robotics in manufacturing and logistics

April 15, 2026 by David Edwards

International management consultancy Accenture has invested, through Accenture Ventures, in AI-native company General Robotics.

General Robotics offers general-purpose robotic intelligence that allows organizations to rapidly deploy and continuously adapt robots of any form, with any AI, for any task.

With this investment, Accenture and General Robotics will also partner to help manufacturers, logistics companies and clients in other asset-intensive industries advance autonomous operations with physical AI.

Prasad Satyavolu, global lead for manufacturing and operations at Accenture, says: “Physical AI-powered robotics address issues our clients are facing, such as workforce constraints, challenged factory and warehouse productivity, and continuously rising capital and operational costs. From industrial robot arms to humanoids: Nvidia tightens its grip on the future of robotics

March 19, 2026 by Sam Francis

Nvidia is rapidly emerging as the central technology provider to the global robotics industry, with a growing list of partners spanning traditional industrial robot manufacturers, surgical robotics firms, and a new wave of humanoid startups.

In a sweeping set of announcements at its GTC conference, the company revealed that many of the world’s best-known robotics companies – including ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa and Kuka – are now building on its platforms, alongside newer entrants such as Agility Robotics, Figure AI and 1X.

The breadth of that ecosystem suggests a shift that has been under way for several years: robotics is becoming an AI-driven industry, and Nvidia is positioning itself as the default supplier of the underlying compute, simulation and software infrastructure. Amazon takes ‘major step’ toward zero-touch manufacturing facilities with Nvidia AI

August 19, 2025 by Mai Tao

Amazon, arguably the world’s largest user of robotics technologies, is said to be “powering big leaps” in zero-touch manufacturing with a new physical AI software solutions and digital twin technologies from Nvidia.

Deployed this month at an unnamed Amazon Devices & Services facility, the company’s innovative, simulation-first approach for zero-touch manufacturing trains robotic arms to inspect diverse devices for product-quality auditing and integrate new goods into the production line – all based on synthetic data, without requiring hardware changes.

This new technology brings together Amazon Devices-created software that simulates processes on the assembly line with products in Nvidia-powered digital twins. Using a modular, AI-powered workflow, the technology offers faster, more efficient inspections compared with the previously used audit machinery.
