Construction robotics company Kewazo raises $10 million in Series A funding

Kewazo, a construction robotics startup, has closed its $10 million Series A funding round, bringing the total funds raised to date to approximately $20 million.

The round was led by Fifth Wall, with notable participation from Cybernetix Ventures, Unorthodox Ventures as well as the construction software company Nemetschek.

Aerones demonstrates ‘first’ robot for wind turbine maintenance and repair

Aerones has demonstrated for what it claims is the “first robot that offers full-service leading edge wind turbine blade maintenance and repair”.

The robot performs maintenance 5x faster than humans, and makes use of various attachments to perform different tasks, including refinishing blades with RELEST coatings from AkzoNobel.

Electric Future: Siemens providing software platform to support nascent electric airplane market

Swedish electric airplane maker Heart Aerospace has selected the Capital product lifecycle management suite from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of software and services to support its design, development, and certification of zero emission electric aircraft.

Siemens’ Capital will provide electrical and electronic (E/E) system design and support as Heart Aerospace addresses the market and regulatory demands of escalating performance and commercial certification requirements.

As part of the extensive electrification in these aircraft, Heart Aerospace must address the complexity of the Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) while also addressing electrical system compliance risk. Mercedes‑Benz claims to have become the world’s first automotive company to bring SAE Level 3 conditionally automated driving to the US, with Nevada being the first state to confirm the compliance of the system with state regulations.

This significant milestone sets the ground-breaking Mercedes‑Benz “Drive Pilot” system apart as the first and only SAE Level 3 system in a standard-production vehicle authorized for use on US public freeways.

Complying with the requirements of Nevada Chapter 482A for Autonomous Vehicles, Drive Pilot will allow the driver to hand over the dynamic driving task to the vehicle under certain conditions. Numina launches new automated packing and shipping system

The Numina Group has launched Pakt, which the company describes as “a fully productized pack and ship automation solution, purpose-built for fulfillment operations”.

AutoStore launches new robotic system for warehouses

AutoStore, a warehouse automation company, has launched Pio, short for “Product In/Out”, which is basically an automated storage and retrieval system, or ASRS.

The company describes it as a “plug-and-play version” of its AutoStore cube storage technology tailored.

Pio has been specially designed for small and medium-sized businesses.

Based on a pay-per-pick service model, Pio allows SMBs, such as retailers of apparel, sporting goods, crafts, and cosmetics, to deploy robotic automation for a relatively low investment – enabling more businesses to gain access to the world’s best automation technology.
