Electric Sheep unveils new robot for outdoor environments

March 11, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Electric Sheep, who is creating the first large-scale outdoor maintenance company powered by artificial intelligence and robotics, announced today the launch of a brand new robot for outdoor maintenance using its proprietary AI and robotics software.

This new robot, named Verdie, like their other robots, is powered by Electric Sheep’s AI agent, ES1. This is ESR’s way to enable an outdoor autonomous system to operate in any outdoor setting with zero teaching.

Using recent advances in GenAI, ES1 is a learned world model that enables reasoning and planning for both its RAM robot for mowing and now its Verdie robot used for edging and trimming lawns and bushes and blowing leaves. [Read more…] about Electric Sheep unveils new robot for outdoor environments

BlueBotics takes indoor robots outside

September 6, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Swiss autonomous robot navigation company BlueBotics has launched ANT everywhere, a new product extension for its ANT navigation products that widen the scope of AGV and AMR operations by enabling outdoor operations.

Outdoor use has traditionally been a challenge for producers of automated vehicles. This is because there are typically few permanent “features” visible outdoors, which are required for modern mobile robots to calculate their exact position.

Up to now, vehicle producers have addressed this challenge either by using ad-hoc navigation add-ons, such as patching a GPS system on top of an existing navigation product or by adding additional outdoor infrastructure, such as custom poles featuring reflectors. Summer season: outdoor furniture that you can’t do without and the materials it is made of

August 2, 2023 by David Edwards

A country house and its territory have long ceased to be a place for planting cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, and beets. Today, it is becoming a place of rest from the hustle and bustle.

This is a place where you can have a great weekend and just sunbathe in a lounge away from the big city. It is important to choose high-quality outdoor furniture from a reliable supplier, such as Parasols. This is an assurance that it is durable and environmentally friendly.

Each of us dreams not only of a beautiful picture, but also of a cosy, comfortable resting place. And this problem cannot be solved without the best outdoor furniture, such as garden benches and chairs, armchairs and sofas, dining tables and coffee tables, swings, hammocks, and beach furniture. Sarcos Robotics and Changi Airport test outdoor robotic baggage handling system

December 8, 2022 by Mai Tao

Sarcos Technology and Robotics, a manufacturer of advanced robotic systems, and Changi Airport has completed a demonstration of a jointly developed outdoor-based autonomous baggage loading system prototype.

In collaboration with CAG, Sarcos is developing an outdoor-based baggage loading system to automate the loading and unloading of loose passenger bags from narrow-bodied aircraft.

The inaugural field demonstrations were conducted during September 2022 at Singapore Changi Airport and validated the opportunity for robotics to reduce the risk of on-the-job injuries from baggage handling and augment the ground handling labor force. Labor shortages set to propel shipments of outdoor mobile robots to 350,000 by 2030

November 30, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Rapid advancements in fundamental techniques, such as navigation, manipulation, and functional safety, have made robots more intelligent, agile, and safer.

Mobile robots are a proven ideal companion for humans performing mission- and business-critical tasks in outdoor environments. According to global intelligence firm ABI Research, shipments of outdoor mobile robots will grow from 40,000 units in 2021 to reach 350,000 by 2030, a compound annual growth rate of 27 percent.

With the successful deployment of mobile robots for successful navigation, manipulation, and functional safety in material handling, transporting, and cleaning, companies are now looking to deploy robots for outdoor applications for the same reasons.
