Sarcos Robotics and Changi Airport test outdoor robotic baggage handling system

December 8, 2022 by Mai Tao Leave a Comment

Sarcos Technology and Robotics, a manufacturer of advanced robotic systems, and Changi Airport has completed a demonstration of a jointly developed outdoor-based autonomous baggage loading system prototype.

In collaboration with CAG, Sarcos is developing an outdoor-based baggage loading system to automate the loading and unloading of loose passenger bags from narrow-bodied aircraft.

The inaugural field demonstrations were conducted during September 2022 at Singapore Changi Airport and validated the opportunity for robotics to reduce the risk of on-the-job injuries from baggage handling and augment the ground handling labor force. Benefits of Induction Hardening

November 11, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Case hardening process used to increase wear resistance, surface hardness and fatigue life through creation of a hardened surface layer while maintaining an unaffected core microstructure.

Induction hardening is used to increase the mechanical properties of ferrous components in a specific area. Typical applications are powertrain, suspension, engine components and stampings.

Induction hardening is excellent at repairing warranty claims / field failures. The primary benefits are improvements in strength, fatigue and wear resistance in a localised area without having to redesign the component. [Read more…] about Benefits of Induction Hardening

Gideon launches autonomous forklift for trailer loading and unloading

April 23, 2022 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Gideon, the robotics and AI solutions company, has launched what it describes as “a pioneering new solution” – Trey, an autonomous forklift for truck trailer loading and unloading operations.

Trey loads and unloads pallets entirely autonomously, saving more than 80 percent of a worker’s time. It operates safely, consistently, and reliably in dynamic environments, working side by side with people.

Matija Kopić, Gideon CEO and co-founder, says: “We at Gideon believe that we can help exponentially grow humanity’s ability to move goods by automating the most complex material handling workflows. [Read more…] about Gideon launches autonomous forklift for trailer loading and unloading

Why Loading Dock Leveler Maintenance is Important for Your Business

June 4, 2021 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Out of all things you must do during the working day to keep your business running like a well-oiled machine, dock leveler maintenance is likely at the bottom of your list.

Vehicles load and unload their goods without issue, so you may not believe there’s any reason to mess with something that’s working just fine.

However, there may come a time when things aren’t running smoothly, and by that point, you may end up with hefty bills to fix any issues. Before that happens, you can learn about the importance of maintenance for your loading docks below. [Read more…] about Why Loading Dock Leveler Maintenance is Important for Your Business

UI/UX trends for 2021

May 6, 2021 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

The best apps have a user interface (UI) that is unique and yet somehow familiar; intuitive and at the same time, alluring.

From the very moment a user starts the app launcher, through the overall course of using it, they should feel like they get reacquainted with an old friend.

The user understands what to do and how to behave while being excited to discover new depths of functionality. [Read more…] about UI/UX trends for 2021

Universal Robots handpicks systems integrators to implement ActiNav next-generation machine loading

April 28, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

To better address demand for its popular ActiNav flexible machine loading system, Universal Robots has “handpicked” a number of integrators as ActiNav solutions providers.

Today, solutions for unstructured picking and placing of parts into machines are solely focused on the vision aspect, often requiring additional programming to bridge the gap from “pick” to “place” – especially if the “place” is not just dropping into a box but accurately inserting parts into fixtures for further processing.

Universal says its ActiNav product changes all that, combining real-time autonomous motion control, Universal Robots cobots, vision and sensor systems in one seamless Application Kit that solves the random bin picking challenge in machine tending applications. The Benefits of Automatic Truck Loading Systems: Reduce loading and unloading times to a few minutes

June 12, 2019 by David Edwards

By Jack Smylie, North America sales manager, Ancra Systems

As 3PLs (third-party logistics) companies, distribution centers, and warehouses all get ready for the all-important holiday picking, packing, and shipping season there is a fundamental flaw in how space utilization is conceived.

Most warehouse managers are sure if they had double the number of loading and unloading bays, their operation would be twice as efficient. Nothing could be further from the truth. The efficiency of truck unloading and loading occurs when that process is automated.

Fully automatic loading and unloading always require two combined systems: one system in the truck or trailer and a fixed installation on the loading platform or in the warehouse. Truck loading conveyors and other automated solutions allow increased efficiency.
