Nauticus Robotics launch new generation of its Aquanauts

Nauticus Robotics, a developer of autonomous robots using artificial intelligence for data collection and intervention services for the ocean industries, has launched the first of three second-generation Aquanauts, dubbed the “Mark 2” (MK2).

The Aquanauts will now start commissioning exercises. Following commissioning, Nauticus expects to send the initial Aquanaut MK2 units to the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico in the coming months to support customer initiatives in those regions.

The Aquanaut MK2 is a fully electric, untethered and autonomous subsea robot that is controlled through acoustic communication networking and underpinned by Nauticus’ proprietary software suite, toolKITT. The artificial intelligence-based software suite allows for robotic controls, user interfaces, sensor integration, simulation, data analysis, and communication frameworks purpose-built to enable subsea work. Locus Robotics to provide AMRs for optical products distribution specialist

ABB Optical, a distributor of optical products in the United States, and Locus Robotics, a provider of autonomous mobile robots for fulfillment warehouses, have installed Locus’ AMRs at ABB Optical’s National Logistics Center in Hebron, Kenucky.

ABB Optical’s Kentucky warehouse is the second location to utilize Locus’s innovative robotics automation technology and was built from the ground up to be a Locus-centric facility to improve warehouse order fulfillment efficiency and accuracy to deliver a superior fulfillment experience to their customers.

DB Schenker opens giant new automated e-commerce logistics hub in Spain

DB Schenker, a supply chain management and logistics service provider, has started operations at one of the largest automated e-commerce facilities servicing its retail customers in Spain, Portugal and France.

Operations in the 50,000 sq meter state-of-the-art warehouse in Guadalajara have started with 150 employees on newly created jobs, more than 200 robots and an optimized packaging system.

The site is equipped with a Goods-to-Person picking system to handle around 55,000 units per day using Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) provided by Geek+, the global leader in AMR technology. The system features innovative pick-and-pack solutions for a fast and flexible online-order fulfillment and efficiently deal with returns. GXO claims ‘industry-first’ innovation to outbound process with autonomous mobile robots

GXO Logistics, which says it is “the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider”, has marked the success of its “industry-first” use of Lowpad’s Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) for a customer in the food and beverage sector at a major warehouse facility in the Netherlands.

Luc Laurijssens, GXO’s managing director for Belgium and the Netherlands, says: “GXO’s industry-first collaboration with Lowpad on a custom-designed and engineered automated solution for our customer’s outbound process has significantly improved efficiency.

“By deploying Lowpad AMRs that are fully linked to our Warehouse Management and Electronic Data Interchange systems, we’re enhancing accuracy, efficiency and quality for our customer, while easing the strain of a tight labor market and reducing costs.
