Panasonic partners with DSL Schweisstechnik in robotic welding

Panasonic Robot and Welding System Solutions, a department of Panasonic Factory Solutions, and DSL Schweisstechnik, one of the largest technical distributors of welding hardware in Germany, have agreed a collaboration.

DSL Schweisstechnik will distribute the Panasonic Robot and Welding portfolio, highlighting high-end welding robot solutions such as the Tawers systems, Performarc welding systems or Lapriss laser welding systems for industrial sectors such as automotive or industrial.

Goodyear invests in autonomous trucking company Gatik

Goodyear and Gatik have agreed a multi-year collaboration with a goal to advance the development of mobility solutions for the autonomous business-to-business short-haul logistics industry.

The collaboration will contribute to safer, more sustainable goods movement while reducing costs for Gatik’s customers in the B2B short-haul market nationwide.

Gatik has established the first autonomous middle mile logistics network in North America and is rapidly expanding its fleet of Class 3-6 autonomous box trucks for customers in multiple markets, including Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Ontario. GXO Logistics, which claims to be the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider, has launched an “industry-first pilot” of intelligent automation at its fashion e-commerce warehouse in Tilburg, the Netherlands.

GXO’s pilot of the Pick-it-Easy Robot station is tailored for one of its key global customers, in collaboration with value chain tech provider Knapp.

Joint efforts will provide Level 4 Autonomy for natural resource sector roads

Robotic Research, a developer of “automated driving systems” (or ADS, meaning autonomous), and FPInnovations, a Canadian private non-profit research and development center, are collaborating to develop an off-road truck platooning system for the forest industry.

US government-funded project tests connected vehicles for lifesaving applications

A US Department of Transportation-funded project called THEA Connected Vehicle Pilot has been testing connected vehicles for lifesaving applications at the American Center of Mobility.

The tests were undertaken in collaboration with automotive manufacturers and road operators.
