A startup company called ROBOJuice is promising “first-ever artificial intelligence and robotics-powered kiosk that can prepare and serve smoothies and acai bowls in under 60 seconds”.

Nik Sakhno, the founder of ROBOJuice, says the company has launched because the hospitality industry continues to embrace automation and it was good time to bring the machine to market.

With more than 10 years’ experience in the food automation industry, Sakhno, alongside a team of expert engineers, created ROBOjuice with the goal of helping fast-casual restaurants increase productivity, while being “10 times more affordable to deploy, and two times more profitable compared to traditional, labor-intensive fast-casual restaurants”. Novel method developed by Carnegie Mellon University researchers enables robots to ‘learn in the wild’

The robot watched as Shikhar Bahl opened the refrigerator door. It recorded his movements, the swing of the door, the location of the fridge and more, analyzing this data and readying itself to mimic what Bahl had done.

It failed at first, missing the handle completely at times, grabbing it in the wrong spot or pulling it incorrectly. But after a few hours of practice, the robot succeeded and opened the door.

Global semiconductor equipment sales to reach $118 billion

Global sales of total semiconductor manufacturing equipment by original equipment manufacturers are forecast to reach a record $117.5 billion in 2022, rising 14.7 percent from the previous industry high of $102.5 billion in 2021, and increase to $120.8 billion in 2023, SEMI reports in its Mid-Year Total Semiconductor Equipment Forecast – OEM Perspective at SEMICON West 2022 Hybrid.

Both the front-end and back-end semiconductor equipment segments are contributing to the market expansion. The wafer fab equipment segment, which includes wafer processing, fab facilities, and mask/reticle equipment, is projected to expand 15.4% to a new industry record of $101 billion in 2022, followed by a 3.2 percent increase to $104.3 billion in 2023.
