Sunrise Robotics emerges from stealth with $8.5 million funding

Sunrise Robotics, a company that says it’s “augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics”, is emerging from stealth with $8.5 million in funding led by Plural.

Tapestry, Seedcamp, Tiny.vc and Prototype Capital also participated. The investment will fuel the expansion of its European-wide team and enhance AI capabilities as the company scales production of the initial fleet of Sunrise intelligent robotic cells, bringing critical manufacturing capacity back to the continent. Donatos and Appetronix launch fully-autonomous robotic pizza kitchen at Columbus Airport

Travelers passing through John Glenn Columbus International Airport can now witness the future of fast food.

This week, Donatos Pizza, in partnership with robotic restaurant technology specialist Appetronix, unveiled a first-of-its-kind, fully-autonomous pizza kitchen, redefining the quick-service restaurant experience. (See video below.)

Record-breaking ICRA 2025 highlights robotics breakthroughs and top research awards

The 2025 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) concluded on 23 May in Atlanta with a record 7,006 attendees and 2,107 technical presentations across 326 sessions.

Held at the Georgia World Congress Center, the event showcased cutting-edge robotics research, including award-winning papers, demonstrations, and editorial contributions.

Fifteen teams from around the globe showcased their robotics and automation projects, competing for cash prizes. The idea of this challenge is to create a robot that looks good (Form) and works (Function).
