Mondo Robotics, a robotics company creating accessible robots for the consumer, has launched its first robot, Beni, on Kickstarter.
Beni is the first portable, all-terrain robot that independently films while following you around, auto-capturing life’s little moments with cinema-grade camera movement. Having to set up equipment like tripods or asking someone else to take a video or photo can deter people from filming.
This leads to some of the most inspiring, heart-warming moments going unrecorded. But with Beni, users can simply bring it along for the ride, staying fully present in the moment to make robotics feel like a natural part of everyday life – something users can even see as a companion.
Beni is engineered to be an interactive, highly mobile robot that goes wherever the user goes, especially useful in outdoor environments and action-oriented spaces.
Notable key features include:
- Advanced control capabilities, such as obstacle avoidance, dodging people and hopping up the stairs as it moves independently
- Smart video tracking from various angles, capturing every cinematic shot, from tricks at the skatepark and tennis serves to a cruise around the neighborhood
- Max jumping height of 10 inches, and self-recovery after falling down
- Operation at a top speed of 18 mph and motion sensing
- Super portable and lightweight design, weighing less than 4 pounds, ready to take on any adventure
- 4K30 / 3K60 / 1080p100 camera with 16:9 aspect ratios
Beni’s not just a videographer. It interacts with users like a true companion, nodding and shaking its head, reacting to its surroundings with expressive, color-changing eyes, jumping and flipping over, with gaming features that make it a true playmate.
Beni reminds users it’s not just another new gadget they’ll upgrade in a few months, but one they’ll learn and grow with.
Beni’s Kickstarter campaign is now live and will run until early August 2026. Mondo Robotics plans to begin wider production following the campaign, with broader availability details to be announced in October.
This Kickstarter campaign is a meaningful first step for Mondo Robotics to introduce robotics into the lives of everyday consumers, working to offer this technology broadly to simplify their day-to-day tasks.
Mondo Robotics is debuting on Kickstarter to build a diverse community of early adopters they can connect with directly, equally as eager to explore and interact with the latest robotics innovation as they are.
“Most robots today are designed to work behind the scenes, in warehouses or factories hidden from consumers. We started Mondo Robotics with the belief that robots should be beside people, making their daily life more fun and enjoyable,” said Shuo Yang, co-founder and CTO of Mondo Robotics, a roboticist who holds a PhD from Carnegie Mellon and a former engineer on Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot.
“When a robot can be right there with you at the skate park, on a family walk, or in your backyard, robotics becomes something personal rather than something distant. And it allows you to be fully present in the moments that matter.”
