Starship’s robot food delivery service launches Tennessee university

Starship Technologies has partnered with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville to roll out a robot food delivery service in a local area called Rocky Top.

A fleet of 40 autonomous on-demand robots will deliver from 16 campus eateries including Einstein Bros. Bagels, Steak ’n Shake, Starbucks, and Subway, among others.

RightHand Robotics launches partner program. Element Logic becomes inaugural member

Pitney Bowes and Ambi Robotics sign $23 million deal to optimize last-mile sorting across US hubs

Pitney Bowes, a global logistics company, and Ambi Robotics, a developer of robotic sorting systems for supply chain operations, have agreed a $23 million implementation expansion of AmbiSort systems in Pitney Bowes’ e-commerce hubs across the US.

The AI-powered robotics will help Pitney Bowes speed parcel sortation to last-mile delivery providers, while improving productivity, accuracy and worker safety as the company’s shipping and e-commerce businesses surpass 50 percent of total revenue.

Gideon launches autonomous forklift for trailer loading and unloading

Gideon, the robotics and AI solutions company, has launched what it describes as “a pioneering new solution” – Trey, an autonomous forklift for truck trailer loading and unloading operations. 

Trey loads and unloads pallets entirely autonomously, saving more than 80 percent of a worker’s time. It operates safely, consistently, and reliably in dynamic environments, working side by side with people.

GXO installs fleet of autonomous robots in Europe

GXO Logistics, the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider, is using fleets of autonomous mobile robots, or AMRs, to help customers in the 28 countries where GXO operates make significant leaps in productivity and safety.

After successfully integrating cobots into operations for ecommerce and retail customers, GXO is now deploying them for grocery and large-item customers.

Geek+ reinforces goods-to-person safety and efficiency with new picking station

Geek+, a manufacturer of autonomous mobile robots, has upgraded its flagship goods-to-person system with a new picking station compatible with P-series robots carrying mobile shelves and racks.

Kai Liu, Geek+ co-founder and head of smart warehouses, says: “We want to make picking operations safer and less strenuous for warehouse employees. Our robots are there to not only increase efficiency, but also to improve the working environment for operators.”

Geek+’s new picking station includes several improved elements: a wrist-worn scanner that eliminates the need for excess walking; a stepladder that locks in place, reducing the danger of falling; and a projector that instantly indicates where goods are to be placed and taken. Numina and Addverb partner to expand North American warehouse automation solutions

Automation solutions provider Addverb Technologies has agreed a strategic North American partner agreement with Numina Group, an independent warehouse automation software developer and systems integrator.

The agreement expands the deployment of Addverb’s cutting-edge mobile robots for automation solutions to North American warehouses and provides Numina Group’s customers access to additional innovative technology applications for faster and smarter warehouse order fulfillment automation.

AutoStore launches Bin Lift 2.0 to North American market

Warehouse automation company AutoStore has launched its Bin Lift 2.0, which will extend the reachability of AutoStore bins in multi-level warehouses, enabling a flexible warehouse layout and reducing real estate costs.

Now available in North America, the vertical lift assists AutoStore bins, which are durable containers used to hold inventory and are handled precisely by AutoStore robots.

RightHand Robotics adds Vanderlande to partner integrator network

RightHand Robotics, a developer of autonomous robotic picking solutions for order fulfillment, says Vanderlande, a provider of logistic process automation in the warehousing, airports, and parcel sectors, has partnered to deploy piece-picking robots to meet the demands of general merchandise warehouses and distribution centers on a global scale.

In doing so, Vanderlande has added the RightHand Robotics award-winning RightPick item handling system to its Smart Item Robotics (SIR) portfolio of technologies, following the company’s strategy to accelerate the use of robotics in warehousing.

Delivery robots ‘help students feel safer, skip fewer meals and improve mental health’

Delivery robots are becoming a popular feature on college campuses across the US and are one of the best and sometimes only options for contactless delivery. It turns out the delivery robots have had other positive impacts on campus.
