Ambi Robotics and OSM partner to automate parcel sortation systems

Ambi Robotics, a provider of AI-powered robotic solutions for parcel sorting operations, has agreed a commercial partnership with OSM Worldwide, a global parcel and logistics services company.

Under the partnership, Ambi Robotics will deploy its flagship AmbiSort A-Series system to OSM Worldwide’s warehouse locations in Atlanta, Chicago, and Las Vegas in a minimum four-year Robots-as-a-Service (RaaS) agreement.

The AmbiSort A-Series system helps global shippers like OSM Worldwide accelerate parcel sortation to last-mile delivery providers while enabling ecommerce customers to benefit from cost-savings, order accuracy, and predictable performance. Plus One Robotics raises $50 million in new funding

Plus One Robotics, a provider of advanced AI vision software and solutions for robotic parcel handling, has raised $50 million in Series C funding.

The round was led by Scale Venture Partners, with Partner Rory O’Driscoll joining the board of directors. Top Tier Capital Partners, Tyche Partners, ROBO Global Ventures, Translink, McRock, and Pritzker Group Venture Capital also participated in the round alongside existing investors, which brings the company’s total funding to date to nearly $100 million.

Plus One Robotics’ parcel handling solutions surpass 500 million picks

Plus One Robotics, a provider of a parcel handling robotics platform claiming to performing over 1 million parcel picks each day in production, says its platform has reached over half a billion parcel picks globally. 

The company says the 500 million figure is “currently an industry leading metric”.

Smart Robotics launches new robotic parcel picker

Smart Robotics, a provider of pick and place automation as a service for warehouses and logistics processes, has launched its newly engineered Smart Parcel Picker.

The picking robot is designed to depalletize and unload an array of containers with parcels, varying in size, surface material and weight.

The company says its Smart Parcel Picker is able to do this at “business-case friendly throughput and performance” – replacing physically straining and repetitive work for warehouse employees at times that the industry is also experiencing growing labour shortages. DHL begins trial runs of Cleveron’s autonomous delivery vehicle

DHL Express has begun testing an autonomous delivery vehicle built by Estonian company Cleveron. The trials will take place in Tallin, Estonia, and use the Clevon 1 electric delivery robot, which has a 100 km range.

This is the second strategic cooperation where DHL, one of the world’s leading logistics companies, will pilot Cleveron Mobility’s unmanned robot couriers to test their use in last-mile delivery operations.

Vanderlande selects Kollmorgen to supply robots to further automate warehouses

Warehouse automation giant Vanderlande has selected Kollmorgen NDC Solutions as a technology and service partner for their automated guided vehicle (AGV) applications.

Based on Toyota Material Handling forklifts equipped with the Kollmorgen NDC Solutions technology, Vanderlande aims to strengthen and grow their portfolio of complete logistic and warehouse solutions.

Unbox Robotics launches ‘first-of-its-kind’ vertical robotics sortation solution

Unbox Robotics, a robotics technology company specializing in logistics, has launched what it says is “the first-of-its-kind vertical robotics sortation solution”.

Called “UnboxSort”, the solution was unveiled on the sidelines of the India Warehousing Show 2022 in New Delhi. Unbox describes UnboxSort as a “swarm intelligence-powered Industry 4.0 plug-and-play robotics solution”.

With the help of UnboxSort, Unbox Robotics aims to help e-commerce retailers scale up their logistics to handle the high parcel volume brought in by the change in online buying behaviour since the pandemic. Clever claims ‘first’ autonomous unmanned vehicle delivery in Europe

Cleveron Mobility, a company developing the technology for driverless autonomous vehicles, and the parcel delivery company DPD Eesti, claim to have become the first in Europe to deliver a package to a customer with a driverless autonomous vehicle.

Cleveron says that, thanks to its flexible cargo capacity and the capability of driving on public roads, it’s able to offer a “good alternative to fossil fuel vans”.

The driverless autonomous vehicle, manufactured by Cleveron Mobility, is developed as a robotic courier with the aim to deliver goods and equipment in a more efficient, flexible and environmentally friendly way for both people and businesses. Pitney Bowes and Ambi Robotics sign $23 million deal to optimize last-mile sorting across US hubs

Pitney Bowes, a global logistics company, and Ambi Robotics, a developer of robotic sorting systems for supply chain operations, have agreed a $23 million implementation expansion of AmbiSort systems in Pitney Bowes’ e-commerce hubs across the US.

The AI-powered robotics will help Pitney Bowes speed parcel sortation to last-mile delivery providers, while improving productivity, accuracy and worker safety as the company’s shipping and e-commerce businesses surpass 50 percent of total revenue.

Ambi Robotics raises $26 million in Series A funding led by Tiger Global

Ambi Robotics, a developer of AI for highly-dexterous robotics, has closed a $26 million Series A funding round. The investment is led by new investor, Tiger Global Management, and builds on participation from existing investors Bow Capital, Vertex Ventures US and The House Fund.

The new funding comes at a time of significant customer growth and expansions just five months after the company emerged from stealth.
