Xpanner secures $18 million Series B funding to scale AI-powered automation in construction

May 15, 2026 by David Edwards

Xpanner, a provider of construction automation equipment, has raised $18 million in Series B bridge funding. The round was led by Korea Investment Partners with participation from KB Investment (KBIC), both existing global investors.

The raise brings Xpanner’s total funding to $38 million and marks a focused effort to expand its subscription-based automation solution across the US market.

Ryan Park, co-founder and CFO and CSO of Xpanner, says: “We’re thrilled to have KIP’s continued support as we enter our next chapter. [Read more…] about Xpanner secures $18 million Series B funding to scale AI-powered automation in construction

Gravis Robotics expands into US with autonomous construction equipment platform

March 8, 2026 by David Edwards

Gravis Robotics, the physical AI platform for heavy industry, has announced its full commercial expansion into the US through its live, production-scale autonomy tech to CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 in Las Vegas.

In collaboration with its partners Develon and Hitachi, Gravis will be demonstrating its systems’ earthmoving capabilities – including autonomous trenching and bulk excavation – enabled by its retrofit hardware that is currently in use on construction sites around the world. Bedrock Robotics begins supervised autonomous excavation on live construction sites as it moves toward commercialization

November 20, 2025 by David Edwards

Bedrock Robotics says it has been conducting “the construction industry’s largest-known supervised autonomy deployment for mass excavation”, partnering with Sundt Construction on site preparation for a 130-acre domestic manufacturing facility.

On just this project alone, Bedrock’s autonomous systems have so far moved over 65,000 cubic yards by loading human-operated articulating dump trucks with the same workflow used in manual operations – a seamless integration that demonstrates a leap forward in commercial autonomous construction.

The company’s technology is now installed across multiple excavator models ranging from 20-ton to 80-ton machines, adapting its systems from compact units to large-scale earthmovers. Interview with Bedrock Robotics CEO Boris Sofman: ‘The economics are compelling’

October 8, 2025 by Mai Tao

Over the past couple of years, the level of interest in construction robotics has surged. This is not surprising given the tantalising demos by new robotics companies that show what autonomous machines could do on building sites.

At the forefront of turning that promise into reality is Bedrock Robotics, led by co-founder and CEO Boris Sofman.

After pivotal roles at Anki and Waymo, Sofman has embarked on one of the boldest pivots in the autonomy space: applying machine learning and robotics to earthmoving, excavation, and other heavy-duty construction work. Smart Excavator Features: Sensor, AI, and Automation Upgrades in 2025 Excavator Models

September 26, 2025 by Sam Francis

The excavator industry is entering a new era in 2025, where power and performance are no longer the only deciding factors for contractors. Sensors, artificial intelligence, and automation are transforming how machines dig, grade, and interact with their environment.

Instead of relying solely on operator skill, today’s excavators provide precision guidance, predictive maintenance, and even remote or autonomous operation.

From advanced safety systems to hybrid and electric powertrains, the latest models represent a leap toward smarter, greener, and more efficient construction. This shift is reshaping how companies approach equipment investments, productivity, and long-term fleet management.
