SVT Robotics’ develops SoftBot connector for RightHand Robotics

July 26, 2021 by Mark Allinson

SVT Robotics, a developer of software for industrial robotics, has designed a new SoftBot Platform connector for RightHand Robotics, a specialist in autonomous robotic picking solutions.

SVT Robotics worked with RightHand Robotics to develop the pre-built connector between SVT’s SoftBot Platform and the RightPick 3 item-handling robot system, the company’s newest generation of the RightPick product suite and the world’s first autonomous piece-picking solution designed to be integrator-friendly.

T.J. Fanning, VP of sales for SVT, says: “By connecting to the pre-built standard integrations of our SoftBot Platform, RightHand Robotics customers who adopt the RightPick 3 system can now deploy without the need for custom integration code. Nvidia unveils Jetson AGX Xavier industrial module

July 26, 2021 by Mai Tao

Chipmaker Nvidia has unveiled the Jetson AGX Xavier industrial module. The company says the new ruggedized module is engineered to bring artificial intelligence to harsh, safety-critical environments.

From factories and farms to refineries and construction sites, the world is full of places that are hot, dirty, noisy, potentially dangerous — and critical to keeping industry humming.

These places all need inspection and maintenance alongside their everyday operations, but, given safety concerns and working conditions, it’s not always best to send in humans. [Read more…] about Nvidia unveils Jetson AGX Xavier industrial module

How has Data Become the World’s Most Valuable Commodity?

July 22, 2021 by Mark Allinson

The world is packed full of tangible and valuable commodities, with oil offering a relevant case in point. In fact, global oil reserves equated to a staggering 1.7 billion barrels at the end of 2019, creating a vast marketplace that’s one of the most lucrative in the world.

However, we’re currently seeing an exponential rise in the value of intangible and digital commodities, such as cyber and data. The wider world of cyber could achieve a cumulative market value of $280 billion by 2025, while data is now considered to be the globe’s most valuable and vulnerable resource.

Of course, the level of vulnerability surrounding data continues to increase as the resource grows. But just how much data is being processed today, and where does this rank amongst the 10 most traded commodities in the world. A Look at the Past, Present, and Future of IT Support

July 12, 2021 by Mark Allinson

Information technology (IT) support has in past years been known as the center of all technological innovations in a company. Given that the world of business today is highly dependent on technology, the IT department has no doubt become an integral part of any organization.

Now, technology is no longer limited or solely driven by the IT department. With the emergence of cloud and mobile technologies, almost anyone in an organization has access to high-quality tech that would have been limited or at least mostly been found in the IT department.

It looks like IT support is being overtaken by the very technologies that brought them into existence. But is that what’s happening? What’s the future of IT support if there’s any to speak of? [Read more…] about A Look at the Past, Present, and Future of IT Support

Tesla to launch ridesharing app, with Tesla’s Driver Insurance

June 23, 2021 by Liv

While Uber and Lyft have been dominating the ridesharing industry and revolutionizing urban mobility, they’re likely to meet a new top competitor in Tesla.

The company has had its own ridesharing app in the works for some time. Uber and Lyft are at a disadvantage, as neither of them has made a profit.

Much of this has been attributed to how they’ve relied heavily on venture capital and IPO filings to stay afloat which has put them in a bind. [Read more…] about Tesla to launch ridesharing app, with Tesla’s Driver Insurance
