Interview: BlueBotics brings warehouse robotics experts to your screen

BlueBotics has been around for 20 years. And in that time, it has become one of the leading providers of navigation technology for warehouse robots such as automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots. In doing so, the company has become something of a fount of knowledge about the subject, and thought it would provide that knowledge as an online resource through its newly created website ANTdriven.com.

In this interview, conducted by Abdul Montaqim, Robotics and Automation News speaks to Matt Wade, head of marketing for BlueBotics, about the ANTdriven.com resource as well as wider issues relating to the entire warehouse automation sector.

BlueBotics launches new resource for warehouse robotics professionals

BlueBotics, one of the leading providers of software for warehouse robots, has launched a new resource for professionals working with automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots.

The resource, located at BlueBotics’ new website ANTdriven.com, is described as “an educational website for professionals interested in automated vehicle technology”.

The company adds that ANTdriven.com is a website for professionals interested in learning more about automated guided vehicles, automated forklifts and autonomous mobile robots – and the ANT navigation technology that drives them. Cross Company partners with Doosan Robotics

Cross Company, a 100 percent employee-owned industrial technology company, is partnering with Doosan Robotics Americas to bring its collaborative robot (cobot) technology to the south-eastern United States.

Doosan Robotics was founded in South Korea in 2015 and following three years of research and development they developed a range of four cobot models that use their proprietary technology.

Sweden’s largest pharmacy chain partners with GreyOrange to increase warehouse automation

Apotek Hjärtat, Sweden’s largest pharmacy chain, has signed a new partnership with GreyOrange to develop automation solutions for its new 20,000 square meter e-commerce warehouse that will open in September in Norrköping.

Through the partnership, Apotek Hjärtat will take the next step in automating its logistics. The warehouse that supplies pharmacies with goods is already largely automated, but the new collaboration gives Apotek Hjärtat the conditions to continue to improve customer experience through faster and smoother deliveries.

Eyewear retailer brings in robot from Osaro to keep up with e-commerce orders

Osaro, a developer of advanced robotics for e-commerce, has partnered with Zenni, an online eyewear retailer, to automate the “last meter” of Zenni’s fulfillment center in Novato, California.

Three Osaro Robotic Bagging Systems will take on the responsibility of readying eyewear orders for shipment to US customers.

The implementation is also an industry first. This is the first time a robot will be assigned the responsibility of working with an automated mechanical bagging system to ensure a customer’s unique order is placed into the correct bag for shipment. Industrial inspection startup Gecko Robotics raises $73 million

Gecko Robotics, a specialist in robotics and industrial asset management software, has revealed details of its Series C funding round of $73 million, led by XN with participation from Founders Fund, XYZ, Drive Capital, Snowpoint Ventures, Joe Lonsdale, Mark Cuban, Gokul Rajaram, and others.

The company says this latest funding round accelerates Gecko’s stated mission, “To protect today’s critical infrastructure, and give form to tomorrow’s”.

MORAI showcases autonomous vehicle driving simulator

MORAI, a developer of autonomous vehicle simulation technology in Korea, has showcased its MORAI SIM Drive, its “true-to-life autonomous vehicle driving simulator” at the recent CommunicAsia 2022 trade event.

As a part of the region’s flagship tech event, Asia Tech x Singapore, CommunicAsia is Asia’s most established and relevant international industry event for the telecommunications sector, showcasing the latest ICT technologies.

Chalmers University selects Lenovo and Nvidia to build Swedish national supercomputer

Chalmers University of Technology is using Lenovo and Nvidia’s technology infrastructure to power its large-scale computer resource, or supercomputer, Alvis.

The project has seen the delivery and implementation of a clustered computing system for artificial intelligence and machine learning research, in what is Lenovo’s largest high-performance computing cluster for AI and ML in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
