Foxconn plans to build autonomous vehicles on Nvidia computing platform

Foxconn, one of the world’s largest contract manufacturers and Apple’s main iPhone maker, is planning to build autonomous cars and will use Nvidia chip technology to do so.

Nvidia and Hon Hai Technology Group – Foxconn’s domestic name – have agreed a strategic partnership to develop automated and autonomous vehicle platforms.

Cogniteam builds AI capabilities for robots on Nvidia platform

Cogniteam has used the Jetson AGX Orin to enable AI on robots using the Nimbus Operating System.

Dr Yehuda Elmaliah, co-founder and CEO of Cogniteam, says: “The Nvidia AGX Orin is a huge leap for manufacturers and developers who want to see greater AI capabilities on their edge robots.”

Pony.ai to mass produce autonomous driving controller built on Nvidia Drive Orin

Pony.ai, a leading global autonomous driving technology company, announced today that its Autonomous Driving Controller (ADC), powered by the Nvidia Drive Hyperion compute architecture (Drive Orin), has been sampled to customers with plans to mass produce the ADC starting in Q4 2022.

Since January 2022, Pony.ai has been conducting road tests optimizing the software to run at low latency and with real-time performance. Pony.ai’s autonomous fleets will feature the Nvidia Drive Orin system-on-chip (SoC) as the centralized compute and AI engine.

Pony.ai’s latest ADC offers single or dual Nvidia Drive Orin configurations, delivering 254 and 508 trillion operations per second (TOPS), respectively. As the world’s highest performance automotive-grade SoC, Drive Orin is designed to handle large numbers of applications and deep neural networks simultaneously, while achieving systematic safety standards, to ensure safe, highly advanced intelligent driving. Nvidia begins production of its Orin autonomous vehicle computer

Nvidia has started production of its Nvidia Drive Orin autonomous vehicle computer, showcased new automakers adopting the Nvidia Drive platform, and unveiled the next generation of its Nvidia Drive Hyperion architecture.

The company also announced that its automotive pipeline has increased to over $11 billion over the next six years, following a series of design wins with vehicle makers from around the globe.

Pony.ai unveils new autonomous computing unit built on Nvidia Drive Orin

Pony.ai, an autonomous driving technology company, has developed a “complete autonomous computing unit” built on the Nvidia Drive Orin system-on-chip (SoC).

Startup company building autonomous trucks on Nvidia platform already has ‘more than 10,000 pre-orders’

Self-driving truck company Plus announced that its upcoming autonomous vehicle platform will be built on Nvidia Drive Orin.

Einride driverless trucks now powered by Nvidia chips

Autonomous electric truck maker Einride says the next generation of its groundbreaking “Pods” will use the Nvidia Drive AGX Orin autonomous vehicle computing platform to handle high-speed, unmanned operations.

Locomation integrates Nvidia chip into autonomous vehicle

Locomation, a provider of autonomous trucking technology, says it will use the Nvidia Drive AGX Orin autonomous vehicle computing platform for the commercialization of self-driving trucks starting in 2022.

Locomation’s first commercial product in a series of planned product rollouts is Autonomous Relay Convoy (ARCTM).

Nvidia launches new SoC and software-defined platform for autonomous cars and robots

Nvidia has introduced a new, “highly advanced” software-defined platform for autonomous vehicles and robots.

The Nvidia Drive AGX Orin platform is powered by a new system-on-a-chip (SoC) called Orin, which consists of 17 billion transistors and is the result of four years of research and development investment.

The Orin SoC integrates Nvidia’s next-generation GPU architecture and Arm Hercules CPU cores, as well as new deep learning and computer vision accelerators that, in aggregate, deliver 200 trillion operations per second – nearly seven times the performance of Nvidia’s previous generation Xavier SoC.
