Nokia and Rohde & Schwarz jointly explore feasibility of drone-based network measurement solution

December 21, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Nokia has signed an agreement with network measurement technology provider Rohde & Schwarz to embed QualiPoc 4.9G/LTE and 5G network measurement capabilities into the Nokia Drone Networks platform.

The companies say this is the “first software-embedded solution of its kind” and will expand the use cases for drones to provide communication service providers (CPS), private wireless partners and enterprises with deeper knowledge around their wireless network coverage and performance for more efficient utilisation.

Nokia and Rohde & Schwarz will jointly work on a prototype that integrates mobile network measurement and troubleshooting QualiPoc capabilities using QualiPoc software from Rohde & Schwarz, embedded directly into the Nokia drone, connected to the MX Industrial Edge (MXIE) over the Digital Automated Cloud (DAC). Werner Enterprises and Kodiak Robotics partner to run 24/7 long-haul autonomous freight operations

November 2, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Kodiak Robotics, a startup self-driving trucking company, is partnering with Werner Enterprises, a large US transportation and logistics provider, to establish an autonomous trucking lane and to showcase how efficiently autonomous trucks can be used with a transfer hub model at truckports.

The relationship commenced in August with a week-long pilot program in which a Kodiak truck, accompanied by a human safety driver at all times, completed four tours involving eight unique trips between Dallas and Lake City, Florida.

Werner Enterprises also joined Kodiak’s Partner Deployment Program, which helps carriers establish autonomous freight operations and seamlessly integrate the Kodiak Driver, Kodiak’s self-driving system, into their fleet. Automation‌ ‌and‌ ‌IoT‌‌: ‌Transforming‌ ‌How‌ ‌Industries‌ ‌Function‌

October 14, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

The key role of technologies is to facilitate our life. But the modern use cases of tech solutions are not limited to everyday tasks.

Actually, we should admit that the most important functions that technologies, and especially the Internet of Things (IoT), have today are related to their implementation by different industries.

As a result, the main beneficiaries are enterprises that have the possibility to fully transform their approach to organizing various processes. [Read more…] about Automation‌ ‌and‌ ‌IoT‌‌: ‌Transforming‌ ‌How‌ ‌Industries‌ ‌Function‌

Locus granted patent for machine learning models to ‘accurately predict traffic time’ for last-mile deliveries

September 30, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Locus, a logistics software technology company (not to be confused with Locus Robotics), has been awarded a patent for “Machine Learning Models for Predicting Time in Traffic”, the second patent awarded to the company in 2022.

Predictability of last-mile deliveries is a logistical challenge that continues to affect businesses across various sectors such as e-commerce, 3PLs, and so on.

Locus’ new patent will enable enterprises to achieve better precision in their last-mile deliveries by factoring in traffic patterns, which have historically been considered too dynamic to map. The Best Enterprise-Level Backup Solutions

March 26, 2021 by Polly Leave a Comment

The mantra of backup, backup, and backup has been shouted from the highest tech-orientated mountains for years.

For good reason, being able to backup and protect data from any eventuality is key to any comprehensive data protection policy.

In many industries standards and laws dictate how data needs to be stored and protected in the case of a disaster making choosing the right enterprise-level backup solution even more vital.

What follows is a list of the best enterprise-level backup solutions on the market currently. [Read more…] about The Best Enterprise-Level Backup Solutions

Traditional telco services hamstring WAN agility. Is cloud-based SD-WAN the solution?

September 23, 2019 by Liv

In a recent survey, industry insiders predicted over 80 percent of workloads will run in a public, private, or hybrid cloud by 2020.

This shift towards cloud computing is one of the key drivers of SD-WAN overtaking traditional telco services like MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) as the go-to WAN connectivity solution for enterprises.

However, enterprises also care about reliability and managed services, areas where SD-WAN solutions that only offer overlay functionality come up short. [Read more…] about Traditional telco services hamstring WAN agility. Is cloud-based SD-WAN the solution?

DJI uses Ubuntu in drone computer

July 5, 2019 by Anna

Ubuntu, the most popular Linux operating system for the Internet of Things, is now available on the Manifold 2, a high-performance embedded computer offered by drone manufacturer, DJI.

The Manifold 2 is designed to fit onto DJI’s drone platforms via the onboard SDK and enables developers to transform aerial platforms into truly smarter drones, performing complex computing tasks and advanced image processing, which in-turn creates rapid flexibility for enterprise usage.

As part of the offering, the Manifold 2 is planning to feature snaps. Snaps are containerised software packages, designed to work perfectly across cloud, desktop, and IoT devices – with this the first instance of the technology’s availability on drones.
