Amazon unveils Project Vulcan: A ‘fundamental leap forward in robotics’ with a sense of touch

Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer and one of the world’s biggest users of robotics technology, has recently unveiled Project Vulcan – a new robot designed to work alongside human employees in its warehouses and fulfillment centers.

This innovative robot is equipped with “force feedback sensors” at the end of its arm and grabbing tool, giving it a sense of touch.

This allows Vulcan to understand and control the amount of force it applies when pushing or grabbing items, enabling it to handle a wide range of products, including fragile ones, without causing damage. Theisen’s introduces inventory robot to local stores

Home, farm and auto products retail store chain Theisen’s has introduced Simbe’s shelf-scanning robot Tally to three of its stores: Theisen’s of Dubuque, IA; Theisen’s of Dyersville, IA; and Theisen’s of Jefferson, Wisconsin.

This marks the retailer’s first phase in adopting cutting-edge technology to deliver an even better experience to customers and associates alike.

Symbotic to buy Walmart’s robotics business for up to $350 million

Symbotic, a developer of AI-enabled robotics technology for the supply chain, has agreed to acquire Walmart’s Advanced Systems and Robotics business.

This transaction expands the long-standing relationship between Walmart and Symbotic with the aim of developing an integrated automated supply chain.

Simbe launches new store robot that combines mobile and fixed sensors

Simbe Robotics, a provider of robots for retail stores, has launched a new robotic system – the Tally Spot, which it describes as “a breakthrough fixed sensor data capture solution” that complements Tally, Simbe’s autonomous mobile robot.

Badger Technologies opens new office and Jabil Center of Robotics Excellence in Kentucky

Badger Technologies, a product division of Jabil, has announced the grand opening of their new corporate office and Center of Robotics Excellence to accelerate the research, development and delivery of state-of-the-art robotics and retail automation solutions.

The 25,000-square-foot facility includes engineering and research and development labs to support more than 50 engineers; a robotics training and testing area; and a customer ideation center.

Simbe Robotics introduces ‘industry-first’ farm supply solution
