Why Wire-Free Robotic Lawn Mowers Are Becoming the Industry Standard?

May 11, 2026 by David Edwards

The robotic lawn mower industry is entering a new phase of technological maturity. Over the past decade, systems relying on boundary wires have dominated the mainstream market due to their stability and reliability.

However, as user demand for “zero-maintenance” and “plug-and-play” experiences continues to grow, boundary-free robotic lawn mowers are rapidly becoming the industry’s future direction.

This shift represents not only a product upgrade but also a transformation of the industry from “rule-based automation” to “spatially intelligent autonomous systems”. [Read more…] about Why Wire-Free Robotic Lawn Mowers Are Becoming the Industry Standard?

Why Automation Systems Fail Without Weather Intelligence

April 10, 2026 by Sam Francis

The Hidden Dependency in Automation Systems

Automation systems are designed for precision, consistency, and minimal human intervention. From autonomous robots navigating complex environments to logistics platforms optimizing delivery routes, these systems rely on constant data inputs to function effectively.

Sensors, cameras, and machine learning models often receive most of the attention, since they are seen as the core technologies behind automated decision-making.

Yet many automation systems still fail in ways that appear unpredictable. A delivery robot pauses unexpectedly. A drone reroutes inefficiently. A scheduling system miscalculates timing. In many cases, the root cause is neither mechanical nor algorithmic. It is environmentally friendly. [Read more…] about Why Automation Systems Fail Without Weather Intelligence

Maximo completes 100 MW of robotic solar installation in California

March 26, 2026 by Sam Francis

Maximo, the solar robotics company incubated by the AES Corporation, has announced the successful installation of 100 megawatts (MW) of utility-scale solar capacity at AES’ Bellefield complex, located on former agricultural land near California City in Kern County.

Demand for electricity continues to grow rapidly, driven by data center expansion, electrification and industrial manufacturing. Solar construction faces increasing pressure from labor constraints, compressed project timelines and cost volatility.

Maximo’s robotic solar installation solution is helping close the gap between the need for faster time to power and construction capacity. The 100 MW achievement marks the transition of robotic module installation from early deployment validation to sustained commercial production. Saving the planet from humans: How robots are transforming environmental monitoring and cleanup

March 24, 2026 by Sam Francis

Environmental damage has traditionally been addressed in bursts – a cleanup operation here, a monitoring campaign there. But the scale of modern environmental challenges is no longer episodic.

Each year, an estimated 8 to 12 million tonnes of plastic enter the oceans. Air pollution is linked to roughly 7 million premature deaths annually, according to the World Health Organization. The economic cost of environmental degradation runs into the trillions of dollars globally.

Against that backdrop, a shift is under way. [Read more…] about Saving the planet from humans: How robots are transforming environmental monitoring and cleanup

Robotic sorting and recycling: Improving purity and efficiency in waste streams

March 19, 2026 by Sam Francis

The economics of waste is changing

The world is producing more waste than ever – and struggling to deal with it.

Globally, around 2.01 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste (rubbish collected by local governments) are generated each year, and roughly a third of it is not managed in an environmentally sound way.

Despite decades of policy efforts, the results are mixed. Only 19 percent of municipal waste is recycled worldwide, according to UN-backed estimates. [Read more…] about Robotic sorting and recycling: Improving purity and efficiency in waste streams

Hewlett-Packard expands automation strategy with mobile robots developed with MoviĜo Robotics

March 12, 2026 by David Edwards

HP Indigo has expanded its automation portfolio by introducing automated mobile robots (AMRs) developed in collaboration with Dutch robotics company MoviĜo Robotics.

The announcement was made at the Dscoop Edge Rockies conference in Denver, where HP showcased new automation technologies designed to support its vision of “Nonstop Digital Printing” – a production environment where presses, workflows and material handling operate continuously with minimal manual intervention.

HP Indigo is the digital printing division of HP’s Industrial Print business, supplying presses widely used in commercial printing, labels and packaging. Under the expanded collaboration, HP will sell and support the AMR systems directly, marking the first time the company has incorporated robotic material-handling technology into its own product portfolio.
