SVT Robotics raises $25 million in Series A funding round led by Tiger Global

November 22, 2021 by Mark Allinson

SVT Robotics, whose software accelerates and simplifies the integration and implementation of robotics, has closed a $25 Million Series A funding round.

The investment was led by Tiger Global, with participation from Prologis Ventures.

Griffin Schroeder, partner at Tiger Global, says: “With no ‘plug-and-play’ integration solution for industrial robotics, warehouses and manufacturers have been prevented from quickly deploying the automation they need to keep pace with the dramatic shifts in labor dynamics we’ve seen over the past year. Florida Automated Vehicles summit to be held in Orlando for first time

October 26, 2021 by Mark Allinson

From November 29th through December 1st, 2021, the Central Florida Expressway (CFX) will host the 9th Annual Florida Automated Vehicles (FAV) Summit in Orlando, Florida.

In recent years, this event has been a sellout. The 2021 FAV Summit will focus on ACES mobility. ACES is an acronym for the four rising stars of mobility – Automated, Connected, Electric and Shared.

CFX is this year’s host agency. The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA), TEAMFL, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, and the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) have worked throughout the year to bring this summit to Orlando. SafeAI releases ‘first operating system purpose-built for autonomous heavy equipment’

September 9, 2021 by David Edwards

SafeAI, a developer of software for autonomous heavy equipment, has released its SafeAI Autonomous Framework, which the company claims is “the first operating system built specifically for autonomous heavy equipment”.

The company says that, with the SAF, companies can use both SafeAI’s infrastructure and industry expertise to accelerate their autonomous application development and create safer, more productive job sites faster than ever.

Off-road heavy industries know they need to deploy autonomous solutions to remain competitive. However, many do not have the time, resources or in-house expertise to build the solutions they need from the ground up. EPHJ trade show returns to bring together industrial high precision in Geneva

September 7, 2021 by David Edwards

After a somewhat “sterile” year in 2020 due to the Covid-related restrictions, the EPHJ Trade Show has done everything to ensure that this 2021 edition, initially postponed for some months, can now be held in the best possible conditions, given the wider public-health backdrop.

This year, the Trade Show will host more than 500 exhibitors at Palexpo. Large numbers of Swiss and international visitors, mainly from neighbouring countries, have already signed up. From small SMEs to sizeable multinationals, no one wants to miss this “return to normal”.

“The convivial and friendly spirit at the EPHJ Trade Show is one of the main factors behind its success”, explains Alexandre Catton, Director of the Trade Show. “Everyone really wants to meet up, reconnect with each other, smile at one other without a screen, have a drink with their clients and do some face to face business.” [Read more…] about EPHJ trade show returns to bring together industrial high precision in Geneva

Driving will be outlawed for humans by 2050, says IDTechEx

September 1, 2021 by David Edwards

Autonomous cars will match or exceed human safety by 2024, after which they will grow rapidly at aan annual rate of 30 percent, according to IDTechEx’s new report Autonomous Cars, Robotaxis & Sensors 2022–2042.

By the 2040s, they will be capable of fulfilling the world’s mobility needs without a single collision. So why should humans be allowed to continue driving?

For a long time, the parameters around how we can drive our vehicles have been restricted. Speed limits exist to increase safety, seatbelts are mandated to increase safety, and city centers are becoming pedestrianized to increase safety for pedestrians. IDS sees high levels of orders for its industrial cameras

August 25, 2021 by David Edwards

IDS with above-average sales growth in the first half-year

The south German industrial camera manufacturer IDS Imaging Development Systems was able to exceed industry expectations in the first half of 2021.

Instead of the 7 percent increase in turnover forecast by the VDMA for the machine vision industry, the company has so far generated more than double this growth.

The camera manufacturer from Obersulm expects consistently high growth until the end of 2021. The positive order situation and the strong development of foreign business give the camera manufacturer every reason to do so, despite the challenging procurement situation. New S&P Analysis: Stressed semiconductor industry needs water, gets liberal sprinkling of state support

May 31, 2021 by Mai Tao

By Christopher Rogers, senior researcher, Panjiva, part of S&P Global

The global semiconductor industry is in the midst of a period of upheaval driven by both short- and long-term factors.

The most obvious has been the imbalance in supply versus demand shown by shortages in the automotive industry, as discussed in Panjiva’s research of May 18, resulting in higher prices.

There are also emergent challenges from water shortages in Taiwan – which accounted for 14.4 percent of global exports in 2019 – that are causing power shortages and potential semiconductor fabrication facility closures, according to Nikkei Asia.
