Mattamy Homes to add new routes to Beep autonomous shuttle network at 8,300-acre, master-planned residential development

May 5, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Mattamy Homes, one of the largest privately owned homebuilders in North America, and Beep, an autonomous mobility solutions provider, say they are continuing their “commitment to smart and sustainable growth through advanced autonomous services connecting current and future key destinations” within Tradition, a master-planned community with more than 2,500 homes built on 8,300 acres of land on the Florida coast.

As Mattamy Homes looks to add more than 1,000 new homes in 2023, Tradition’s autonomous shuttle network now connects a 55+ active adult community to the city’s main retail area with a new route.

The program, called TIM (Tradition in Motion), will now feature three routes connecting additional residential communities to the center of Tradition Square and surrounding shops and restaurants. Ericsson, TIM and Comau test the ‘factory of the future’

June 17, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Ericsson, TIM and Comau say they are testing the “factory of the future” through something called “5G network slicing”.

The three companies have joined forces to develop, on an experimental basis, innovative solutions for Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing by leveraging the potential of the 5G network. This initiative is part of the EU-funded 5Growth project.

Thanks to TIM and Ericsson’s deployment of a 5G network at Comau’s headquarters in Turin (Italy), three new applications have been launched to demonstrate the advantages of the new technology, and in particular those arising from the slicing functionality of the network, within an industrial environment. Texas university students win $10,000 SICK challenge

May 12, 2021 by Elaine

For the third year, SICK invited students from universities around the country to participate in the TiM$10K Challenge. The challenge started in 2018 to support innovation and student achievement in automation and technology.

Teams were supplied with a 270° SICK LiDAR sensor (TiM) and accessories and challenged to solve a problem, create a solution, or bring a new application to any industry that utilizes the SICK LiDAR. [Read more…] about Texas university students win $10,000 SICK challenge

SICK unveils new sensor that takes laser-based ranging to ‘new levels and applications’ for warehouse robots

November 20, 2020 by David Edwards

SICK has expanded its 2D LiDAR sensor offerings for localization and anti-collision applications with the compact TiM2xx product family. This is in response to the new requirements on functionality, size, and price.

Globally, the e-commerce sector continues to experience strong growth. This has also led to an increase in demand for automation solutions to support the growing logistics infrastructure and the transport of goods and products.

Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) are handling more logistics tasks of varying kinds. Simultaneously, the latest AMR designs are becoming increasingly compact and streamlined. 5G cloud robotics solution shown at MWC 2018

March 15, 2018 by Anna

comau

Ericsson, TIM and Comau, have displayed their cloud robotics solution, as a first implementation result of ‘5G for Italy’ collaboration agreement, signed last year, to explore the potential of 5G for Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing.

At MWC 2018 in Barcelona at the end of February, Ericsson, TIM and Comau demonstrated the benefits of 5G-based industrial virtualization through a pioneering proof of concept implemented in Italy – which showcases the factory of the future, that will be realized through the digitization of the manufacturing process and plants enabled by 5G networks and all their building blocks.

Through the combination of TIM and Ericsson’s leadership in 5G networks and technologies and Comau’s leadership in automated manufacturing solutions, this collaboration aims to prove the benefits of advanced solutions adoption for industrial automation.
