Cumberland community group launches autonomous shuttle pilot program

The Cumberland Community Improvement District (CID) is partnering with Beep, a provider of multi-passenger and electric autonomous mobility solutions, to launch the Cumberland Hopper, an autonomous shuttle pilot program providing additional connectivity throughout the Cumberland district. 

This collaboration represents a significant step forward in transforming transportation options within Cumberland, offering enhanced connectivity, sustainability, and convenience to the business community, residents, and visitors.

Mattamy Homes to add new routes to Beep autonomous shuttle network at 8,300-acre, master-planned residential development

Mattamy Homes, one of the largest privately owned homebuilders in North America, and Beep, an autonomous mobility solutions provider, say they are continuing their “commitment to smart and sustainable growth through advanced autonomous services connecting current and future key destinations” within Tradition, a master-planned community with more than 2,500 homes built on 8,300 acres of land on the Florida coast. 

As Mattamy Homes looks to add more than 1,000 new homes in 2023, Tradition’s autonomous shuttle network now connects a 55+ active adult community to the city’s main retail area with a new route.

The program, called TIM (Tradition in Motion), will now feature three routes connecting additional residential communities to the center of Tradition Square and surrounding shops and restaurants. Uber Eats and Cartken expand sidewalk robot deliveries to Virginia

Building on a successful pilot of autonomous deliveries in Miami, Florida, Uber Technologies and Cartken, an AI-powered robotics company, are expanding their partnership to include food deliveries via automated robots in Fairfax, Virginia.

Uber Eats consumers at Mosaic District will have the opportunity to have orders delivered by Cartken’s self-driving robot.

Starting today, Uber and Cartken will begin operating with select merchants at Mosaic District, a shopping and dining district owned and operated by EDENS. Blendid takes its robotic smoothie kiosks into athletic clubs with the Bay Club

Raspberry Pi receives strategic investment from Sony

Sony Semiconductor Solutions and Raspberry Pi have reached an agreement by which SSS is to make a strategic investment in RPL.

The minority investment cements the relationship between the two companies, to provide a development platform for SSS’s edge AI devices to the worldwide community of Raspberry Pi users.

ABB opens its Mexico Technology and Engineering Center

ABB has established a new regional operations center for North America, bringing technology expertise closer to customers and building on its similar resources globally.

An initial $1 million investment has been made for the new Mexico Technology and Engineering Center (MXTEC) in the city of Merida, Yucatan, to help the technology leader to reach higher project delivery capacity and increase competitiveness.
