Deep Robotics’ robot dog pioneers smart inspection in Singapore power cable tunnel

Deep Robotics, a Chinese developer of quadrupedal robotics, has crossed a major milestone with the deployment of its industrial-grade quadruped robot, the X30.

The robot, nicknamed “SPock” within Singapore’s SP Group, is now operational in the country’s extensive underground power transmission cable network, marking it the first Chinese quadruped robot to be deployed to an overseas power system.

The partnership with SP Group represents a critical step forward in Deep Robotics’ global expansion and demonstrates the growing importance of emerging technologies such as robotics and digitization in infrastructure maintenance. Otto Group teams up with Boston Dynamics

Otto Group, one of the world’s largest e-commerce retailers, has signed a strategic agreement with Boston Dynamics, a developer of mobile robotics and maker of highly innovative machines, to continue automating its logistics operations.

The plan is to deploy Boston Dynamics’ Spot robots in more than 10 and Stretch robots in more than 20 of the group’s facilities over the next two years, beginning with Hermes Fulfilment.

The deployment supports Otto Group’s efforts to improve safety, increase operational efficiency and address labor shortages for specific types of warehouse work and the agreement marks the first time both of Boston Dynamics’ commercially available robots will be deployed together at enterprise scale. Cern introduces Tim, the tunnel-checking robot

The name’s TIM, Robot TIM – meet the spy patrolling the 27-km tunnel of the Large Hadron Collider.

TIM, the Train Inspection Monorail, is a mini vehicle transporting a set of instruments along tracks suspended from the tunnel’s ceiling.
