Europe’s largest engineering company says the current situation creates major challenges for industrial companies worldwide – and shows that digitalized and highly automated production is more important than ever when it comes to gaining a competitive edge.

Siemens designs robotic system for cosmetics manufacturing industry

Engineering giant Siemens has developed a robotic system for the cosmetics industry. 

The system has been named “the Hyve” and is described as an autonomous, modular robot platform.

Siemens launches latest version of 3D design software Solid Edge

Siemens Digital Industries Software has launched the 2021 version of Solid Edge 3D CAD modelling application. 

Europe’s largest engineering company says Solid Edge 2021 includes design capability enhancements such as new subdivision modeling and improved reverse engineering performance with new deviation analysis.

Solid Edge 2021 also includes a new artificial intelligence-powered adaptive user interface to predict next steps, and seamless integration with 3Dfindit, an intelligent 3D model search engine powered by CADENAS, a virtual library of 3D parts. Realtime Robotics, which specialises in autonomous motion planning for industrial robots, says the initiative is part of its strategic partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software division.

Siemens provides its expertise to Volkswagen to develop digitized electric car production

Volkswagen’s first new generation electric car is being built with Siemens automation and digitalization technologies.

The two companies say they are developing a standard for the upcoming Volkswagen electric car generation.

Vitesco Technologies celebrates 25 years and its new ‘high degree of automation’

In the scenic setting of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm at the foot of the Beskid Mountains, the Vitesco Technologies site is celebrating its 25th anniversary as well as its “high degree of automation” which is enabling the company to produce advanced technologies more efficiently than ever before. 

In May 1995, the site started producing electronic components for the automotive industry, initially with 100 employees.

Today, the Czech site with its workforce of approximately 3,000 is one of the largest employers in the region and is also one of the largest electronics plants owned by Vitesco Technologies, the Powertrain Technologies group sector of Continental. Siemens acquires provider of virtual training for industrial companies Vizendo

Siemens has acquired Swedish service and software company Vizendo, a provider of virtual operator training for automotive manufacturing.

Virtual training enables industrial companies to reduce their training times and launch new products faster and in higher quality.

Karen Florschütz, CEO of the customer services business unit at Siemens, says: “Virtual training has huge growth potential. HOOPS Exchange 2020 ramps up support for manufacturing as a service

Tech Soft 3D, a provider of software development toolkits to engineering software companies, has released HOOPS Exchange 2020.

The company describes it as “the industry’s fastest and most accurate CAD data access and reuse technology for manufacturing and architecture, engineering and construction workflows”.

Siemens’ MindSphere wins plaudit as industrial IoT platform

MindSphere, the industrial internet of things platform from Siemens, has been named a leader in its market by an independent research firm.

MindSphere can be described as an industrial technology “ecosystem”, which now integrates software from SAS, AWS, Microsoft, Alibaba and Arrow Electronics.

Siemens says the IIoT has the potential to significantly improve global productivity and growth, with Accenture estimating that this latest wave of digital innovation will accelerate the reinvention of sectors that account for almost two-thirds of world output and add $14.2 trillion to the global economy by 2030.
