Productive Robotics updates software for its collaborative robots

Productive Robotics has launched updated software for its range of OB7 collaborative robots, adding “more than 50 features” to the system.

The company says the software update enhances OB7’s connectivity, allowing for efficient integration with other equipment and for easily accessible status monitoring.

Misty Robotics launches first Misty II app template for concierge use

Misty Robotics, the creators of the Misty II platform robot, have launched the “Misty as a Concierge” application template, which provides developers with a starting point to build robot skills and put Misty II to work in the service sector.

The Misty II application templates are open source code for developers to build upon and customize for a specific assignment or task.

Sarcos Robotics supplies exoskeleton to Delta Air Lines

Delta Air Lines is partnering with Sarcos Robotics to test a mobile and dexterous exoskeleton designed to boost employees’ physical capabilities and bolster their safety.

Sarcos, a maker of exoskeletons, has developed the Sarcos Guardian XO, a battery-powered, full-body exoskeleton designed to boost human performance and endurance while helping to prevent injury.

This robotic suit, designed for employees to wear, does the heavy lifting. By bearing the weight of the suit and the payload, the exoskeleton may enable an employee to lift up to 200 pounds repeatedly for up to eight hours at a time without strain or fatigue. Vecna Robotics raises $50 million to expand business

Vecna Robotics, the workflow orchestration and self-driving forklift provider, has raised $50 million in Series B funding.

With double-digit annual growth forecast for the mobile robot market over the next five years, the new capital will expand Vecna Robotics’ industry-leading footprint and accelerate the development of new product offerings.

Geek Plus sells 10,000 warehouse robots

Warehouse automation company Geek+ Robotics says it has sold more than 10,000 units of its autonomous mobile robots.

The company has seen a dramatic increase in demand for warehouse robots from sectors such as e-commerce and automotive supply chains.

OptiPro uses New Scale Robotics system to inspect small parts

OptiPro Metrology Lab is using a system supplied by New Scale Robotics to inspect small parts. (See video below.)

The optics manufacturer is using New Scale’s Q-Span technology, based on its “precision gripper / caliper”, to automate measurement and machine tending.

RE2 Robotics plans expansion as it looks to increase staff by 50 per cent

RE2 Robotics, a developer of human-like robotic manipulation systems, says it will “significantly increase” its hiring efforts in 2020.

This hiring push is a direct result of the company’s expansion into commercial markets last year, including the aviation, energy and medical industries.

RE2 expects to increase its staff by 50 percent by the end 2020. The company, which increased its staff by 32 percent in 2019, is seeking to add approximately 20 engineers in a variety of disciplines, including mechanical, electrical and software engineering. Nvidia launches ‘world’s most advanced’ chip for robotics and autonomous driving

Nvidia has launched what it describes as the “world’s most advanced” chip for robotics and autonomous driving.

The Nvidia Drive AGX Orin is said to be a highly advanced software-defined platform, powered by a new system-on-a-chip called Orin.

Genesis Robotics to showcase latest innovations at IREX 2019

Genesis Robotics and Motion Technologies is planning to showcase its revolutionary direct drive motor technology and innovative gearing solutions for robotic applications at the International Robot Exhibition (IREX).

IREX 2019 will take place from December 18-21 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan. Genesis’ booth location is W4-33.

Airbus acquires MTM Robotics

Airbus has acquired industrial automation company, MTM Robotics, for an undisclosed sum. MTM already partners with Airbus, supplying its robotic hole-drilling system, as reported by Robotics and Automation News previously.

The aerospace colossus says the move “deepens Airbus’ commitment to expanding advanced robotics capabilities within its manufacturing processes”.

The MTM business will retain its current leadership and 40-person staff, as well as its facility in Mukilteo, Washington, near Seattle. [Read more…] about Airbus acquires MTM Robotics
