Robust AI raises $22.5 million to build ‘world’s first’ industrial-grade cognitive engine for robotics

November 12, 2020 by David Edwards

Robust.ai, the company pioneering an industrial grade cognitive engine for robots, announced today the close of a $15 million Series A investment round, taking the company’s total funding to date to $22.5 million.

JAZZ Venture Partners led the Series A round and was joined by previous investors Playground Global, Liquid2, Fontinalis, Jaan Tallinn and Mark Leslie. Esther Dyson, Steve Blank and Tim O’Reilly are also angel investors in Robust.ai.

Historically, robots have largely been confined to highly predictable environments; Robust aims to change that by creating a new cognitively-driven AI platform that gives robots the problem-solving capabilities they need to work alongside humans in dynamic, open-ended environments, vastly increasing their potential in complex public spaces. Honeywell to provide flight control technology for unmanned cargo plane

November 10, 2020 by Sam Francis

Pipistrel has selected Honeywell’s Compact Fly-By-Wire system for the Nuuva V300 cargo unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), choosing a modern, lightweight, highly capable system with a proven architecture ideally suited for their autonomous cargo UAV.

Fly-by-wire computers act as the “brains” of an aircraft’s flight controls by operating them electronically and can be found inside nearly all large fixed-wing aircraft today.

The compact version from Honeywell has features derived from decades of expertise in fly-by-wire systems for airliners, but it’s much smaller – roughly the size of a paperback book. [Read more…] about Honeywell to provide flight control technology for unmanned cargo plane

SICK launches new product for contactless measurement of speed and length

November 7, 2020 by David Edwards

SICK Sensor Intelligence has launched a new system for contactless measurement of speed and length.

With the SPEETEC sensor solution, SICK says it is expanding its product range for speed and length measurement of objects moving in a linear path to include technology that measures directly on the material surface.

The non-contact sensor is able to measure a wide range of web and continuous materials, as well as blanks with an accuracy of just 4 µm. [Read more…] about SICK launches new product for contactless measurement of speed and length

Do we really need a professional translator for instruction manuals?

October 22, 2020 by Polly

Whether we like it or not, it is a well-established fact that we need instruction manuals. Indeed, in some instances it may be a legal requirement for the manufacturer of the product to supply one.

In fact, numerous directives in Europe, the US and much of the rest of the world make it compulsory to provide information, most often in the form of an instruction manual. [Read more…] about Do we really need a professional translator for instruction manuals?

How to Find High-Quality Products on Aliexpress

July 17, 2020 by Polly

Aliexpress is one of the most popular sites people use to start their dropshipping business. Their products are shipped worldwide to over 200 countries and regions, and their site available in five languages.

However, being such a popular site comes with drawbacks. One drawback is that it is hard to find which products are actually good-quality items instead of cheap bootlegs that will break within a week.

This makes it hard for new entrepreneurs to find products that their customers will love. And selling low-quality products leads to low reviews, which can translate to fewer clients. [Read more…] about How to Find High-Quality Products on Aliexpress
