Itera raises $12 million for fluid circuit board that rewires itself in under a minute

May 30, 2026 by Sam Francis

Deep tech startup Itera has emerged from stealth with a prototype of the world’s first fluid circuit board – a technology that allows engineers to rewire and retest physical electronic circuits in less than a minute.

The company also announced $12 million in seed funding from Upfront Ventures, Costanoa Ventures, and Colle Capital to launch their first product and bring it to market.

Traditional printed circuit board (PCB) prototyping cycles force engineers to wait two to six weeks per design iteration, costing hundreds of thousands to millions in burn for a single hardware team and contributing to an estimated $50 billion of direct spending on electronics development annually. Connector Pin Processing: End-Face Finish and Burr Control

May 28, 2026 by Sam Francis

High-precision connector pins fail in the field for reasons a standard diameter check won’t catch.

The parting-off face – that circular cross-section left after the cutoff operation – is where burrs form first, where Ra values quietly climb out of spec, and where poor deburring technology choices create field returns nobody traces back to the machining lot.

Solving section surface finish problems starts with understanding why the end face behaves so differently from the turned barrel – and which deburring approaches are actually suited to the pin geometry. [Read more…] about Connector Pin Processing: End-Face Finish and Burr Control

Interview with Epson Robots’ Scott Marsic: ‘We make it simple to deploy robots’

November 5, 2025 by Sam Francis

Epson Robots has been a quiet but influential force in industrial robotics for decades, particularly in high-precision automation.

The company’s history in robotics dates back to its internal efforts to automate watch assembly, which pushed it toward small-parts handling, speed, and accuracy rather than heavy-payload industrial automation. That heritage still shapes its strategy.

Today, Epson is best known for its strong market position in the SCARA robot segment – where it has held a prominent position globally for many years – and for supplying compact six-axis systems, vision tools, force-sensing technology, and integrated software environments designed to reduce deployment time and complexity.
