Industrial motors giant Nidec is planning to build a $500 million facility in China, according to a report on Nikkei.
The factory will specialize in manufacturing motors for electric vehicles, a growing market in China and the rest of the world.
The proposed location is said to be the Jinpu New Area in the port city of Dalian, north-east China, about 500 km east of Beijing.

Mitsubishi Electric Asia, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, a manufacturer of electric and electronic equipment, is collaborating with partners and experts to form the first strategic partnership in Singapore, e-F@ctory Alliance.
The alliance is intended to help companies embark on a journey towards developing the internet of things and digital transformation.
Hosted by the Factory Automation division of Mitsubishi Electric Asia, the Alliance saw more than 20 companies present at the inaugural ceremony held at Shangri-La Hotel this afternoon, including Advantech, Hitachi Asia, Oracle and Sato Asia Pacific, among others. Industrial components giant Nidec has agreed to acquire Omron’s automotive business, formally called “Omron Automotive Electronics”.
The two companies do not appear to have released the financial details of the agreement, but Nikkei is reporting that Nidec will pay $890 million for the company.

Nidec Corporation is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of industrial components, with annual revenues typically in the region of $11 billion.
The Japanese company’s technology can be found in products ranging from robots to computers, from cars to washing machines, and beyond.
There probably isn’t a machine builder on Earth who has not used or has at least considered using Nidec components at concept or production stage. Shenyang, a city in northeastern China, is opening its arms wider to talents both at home and abroad.
The local government Communist Chinese municipality says it is looking attract “top talent with massive subsidies”.
On April 22, 2018, it announced an upgraded package of incentives in addition to a series of preferential policies introduced last year, including granting a maximum subsidy of 10 million yuan ($1.6 million) to top talents and “zero threshold” for graduates from Chinese and foreign universities to settle down in the city. General Electric has resumed negotiations to sell its industrial solutions business to ABB, according to a report on Reuters.com.
The US conglomerate’s industrial solutions business includes products such as circuit breakers, relays, panel boards and other technologies for sectors including power generation, telecommunications and mining.
