Cleveland Clinic develops bionic arm that restores ‘natural behaviors’

September 2, 2021 by David Edwards

Cleveland Clinic researchers have engineered a “first-of-its-kind bionic arm” for patients with upper-limb amputations that allows wearers to think, behave and function like a person without an amputation, according to new findings published in Science Robotics.

The Cleveland Clinic-led international research team developed the bionic system that combines three important functions – intuitive motor control, touch and grip kinesthesia, the intuitive feeling of opening and closing the hand.

Collaborators included University of Alberta and University of New Brunswick. [Read more…] about Cleveland Clinic develops bionic arm that restores ‘natural behaviors’

Future Weed: How people will get high with the latest technology

September 1, 2021 by Liv

Over the years, marijuana has become more widely accepted. Although there were a lot of concerns surrounding it, the mentality started to shift, to the point where people do not only smoke it, but can also get some of its compounds in different products like oil, gummies, and more.

Some people love to shop CBD softgels online, for instance. Over the years, the number of people who supported the legalization of marijuana moved from 12% to 58%. Moreover, numerous states have already voted for the legalization of recreational marijuana.

But what will the future bring for weed? Now that technology is basically part of our normal lives, weed technology is also being developed. People will get high differently than they did until now, and the developments are quite impressive. If you are interested in this, here are some technologies that will completely change the way people get high. [Read more…] about Future Weed: How people will get high with the latest technology

Automation Must Include a Quality-Driven Mindset

August 31, 2021 by David Edwards

By Thomas R Cutler

According to Jason Spera, CEO and Co-Founder, Aegis Software, a quality-driven mindset across every layer of an enterprise, strategically enhances process visibility and compliance to enable improvements in both cost and customer satisfaction.

In today’s customer-centered world, meeting the needs of customers is more demanding and business-critical than ever. Simultaneously, manufacturers struggle to reduce operating costs as margins compress and the competitive landscape intensifies.

This dichotomy and a pressure to “choose” between reducing costs and delighting customers is not mutually exclusive. Best-in-class manufacturers recognize there is no tradeoff; they take a holistic approach to quality management that allows them to excel in both arenas. IDS cameras central to automatic photo portal for the documentation of intralogistics processes

August 27, 2021 by David Edwards

Due to digitalisation in Industry 4.0, internal logistics is subject to constant change. Internal traceability, that is the tracking of goods in the warehouse or production facility, is increasingly playing a key role.

Manufacturers and consumers are placing more and more emphasis on the safety and quality of products. Costly and image-damaging complaints must therefore be avoided.

Automation systems can help to optimise goods control here and at the same time facilitate and accelerate the work of the operators – saving time and costs. [Read more…] about IDS cameras central to automatic photo portal for the documentation of intralogistics processes
