Electric Sheep Robotics launches its Dexter robotic lawnmower system

Electric Sheep Robotics, the leader in autonomous lawn mowing, has officially launched its Dexter robot.

Dexter takes existing commercial lawn mowers, both gas and electric, and turns them into autonomous vehicles. Dexter is designed to address critical labor shortages in the landscaping, facilities, and property management industries.

Amazon introduces home monitoring robot

Amazon has launched a small, humanoid-ish security robot for the home, called Astro, although it’s currently only available “exclusively by invitation”, whatever that means. 

The online retail giant, which probably operates the largest fleet of autonomous warehouse robots in the world, says Astro is a “household robot for home monitoring”.

Samsung caught planning robot invasion of America

Samsung, arguably the world’s largest mobile phone company and generally an all-round hi-tech behemoth, appears to be preparing to launch a massive invasion of America with robots.

The South Korean company has been reported to have filed papers and applications or whatever it is that you do at the World Intellectual Property Organization to trademark or patent a new brand called “Samsung Bot”, according to the Korea Herald.

Pudu Robotics showcases its service robots at CES

Pudu Robotics, provider of commercial service robots, has wrapped up what it describes as “a highly successful showcase” at CES, which took place earlier this month.

In addition to exhibiting its flagship commercial service robots in the global arena, Pudu Robotics used the event to reaffirm its increased focus on IoT technology and layout its product roadmap based on a “multi-functional, multi-scenario” strategy.

Furhat Robotics acquires Misty Robotics

Furhat Robotics, the Swedish company behind the humanoid social robot “Furhat”, has acquired US-based Misty Robotics, creators of purpose-built social robots for developers.

The Furhat robot is used in a variety of advanced academic research and business applications, including “the world’s first unbiased interviewer” – avoiding unconscious biases about race and gender.

The acquisition of Colorado-based Misty Robotics, for an undisclosed sum, establishes an American base of operations for the Swedish scaleup, which is already utilized by US brands including Disney, Intel, Accenture and Facebook, as well as academic institutions including Boston-based Northeastern University. LG launches CLOi service robot after gaining UL certification

LG Business Solutions is launching the LG CLOi ServeBot in the US market in early 2022.

The company says the Model LDLIM21 is “the world’s first commercial service robot earning UL 3300 certification” for safe operation in complex commercial environments such as restaurants, retail stores and hotels.

For the first time, US workers will be able to safely use LG’s robot assistants, which cab navigate busy environments while carrying up to 66 pounds of food or goods, assisting with employee workloads, enabling better customer service and increasing operational efficiency. Brain Corp launches mobile app to manage autonomous robot fleets

Brain Corp, a developer of software for mobile cleaning robots, has launched BrainOS Mobile, a mobile application connecting operators and managers directly with their BrainOS-powered robotic fleets and providing real-time visibility on machine locations, status and performance.

Josh Baylin, vice president of product and marketing at Brain Corp, says: “Our BrainOS Mobile app represents an exciting new step in our company’s goal to make working with advanced robotics incredibly simple and to provide critical insights to our customers.”

AP Møller makes $51 million investment in Blue Ocean Robotics ahead of global launch of mobile robotics solutions

AP Møller has made an investment of $51 million in partnership with Blue Ocean Robotics ahead of the global launch of a range of mobile robotics solutions. AP Møller is the investment arm of the shipping company which usually goes by the name AP Møller Maersk.

In a world with increasing labour shortages and a growing ageing population, demand for service robots that can assist companies and institutions is growing.

This is why Blue Ocean Robotics, Europe’s largest manufacturer of service robots, has now strengthened its financial muscle, enabling the company to roll out its sustainable mobile robot solutions all over the world.

Service robots are part of the solution when productivity needs to be increased in the labour market. Enway releases new generation of its sweeping robot

Ottonomy provides ‘first’ fully autonomous delivery robots for airport

A company called Ottonomy is providing a fleet of its fully autonomous delivery robots – called Ottobots – for food and retail at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).

This is said to be the first autonomous robotic delivery of food, beverage and lifestyle products in an airport environment.

Officially launched for the holiday travel season, passengers are now able to order contactless delivery directly to their location in Concourse B of the airport, delivered by an autonomous robot.
