Nissan and partners to run autonomous mobility pilot in Yokohama

October 6, 2025 by David Edwards

Nissan Motor will begin testing an autonomous mobility service in Yokohama later this year in partnership with Boldly, Premier Aid, and Keikyu.

The pilot program is scheduled to run from November 27, 2025 through January 30, 2026 across several central districts, including Minato Mirai, Sakuragi-cho, Kannai, and Chinatown. A fleet of five Nissan Serena-based autonomous vehicles will operate along a route with 26 boarding and drop-off points.

The project is being carried out in collaboration with the City of Yokohama and will be supported by a remote monitoring control center, known as “PLOT48,” located in the Minato Mirai area. [Read more…] about Nissan and partners to run autonomous mobility pilot in Yokohama

Einride operates ‘first ever’ fully autonomous heavy-duty truck on a public road in Belgium

October 6, 2025 by David Edwards

Einride, a technology company that provides digital, electric and autonomous solutions for road freight, has for the first time operated a fully autonomous heavy-duty vehicle on a public road in Belgium.

This safety-validated demonstration, achieved at Port of Antwerp-Bruges, was permitted under the Belgian regulatory framework and it showcases how Belgium – and Europe – can take the lead in advancing autonomous freight technology.

Johan Klaps, chairman of the board of directors Port of Antwerp-Bruges and Antwerp port alderman: “Antwerp is more than a logistical hub: it is also a place where the mobility of tomorrow is tested and concretized. Aurora and McLeod launch ‘first’ transportation management system integration for autonomous trucks

October 6, 2025 by David Edwards

Aurora, a developer of self-driving trucks, and McLeod Software, a provider of transportation management solutions, have agreed a strategic partnership to create “the industry’s first Transportation Management System (TMS) for autonomous trucks”.

The collaboration lays the foundation for a “superior user experience” for mutual customers utilizing Aurora’s autonomous trucks, which, the companies say, will help increase industry adoption of self-driving trucking technology.

Self-driving trucks are designed to move freight safely, more efficiently, and around the clock, enabling carriers to significantly increase asset utilization and revenue. [Read more…] about Aurora and McLeod launch ‘first’ transportation management system integration for autonomous trucks

International Motors launches autonomous fleet trials in partnership with PlusAI

October 6, 2025 by David Edwards

International Motors has launched customer fleet trials using second-generation autonomous vehicles, marking a significant step forward in the company’s autonomous program.

In partnership with PlusAI, International will start piloting its autonomous on-highway “tractor” – by which, we believe, it means “truck” (because that’s what the picture shows) – along the Interstate-35 corridor between Laredo and Dallas with select fleet operators.

The fleet trials will be managed from International’s autonomous hub in San Antonio, ensuring close collaboration with customers and a deeper understanding of real-world applications. [Read more…] about International Motors launches autonomous fleet trials in partnership with PlusAI

Horizon Robotics raises more than $800 million and opens office in Europe

October 2, 2025 by David Edwards

Horizon Robotics, a provider of technology for autonomous vehicles, has raised approximately $800 million by issuing new shares – or what’s called a “top-up placement” in investment jargon – on the Hong Kong stock exchange, according to Reuters.

The company also announced the official establishment of its European headquarters – in Munich, Germany – describing it as a “strategic milestone” that strengthens its global expansion and localized operations, enabling Horizon Robotics to deliver safer, more comfortable, and more convenient mobility experiences for drivers and passengers worldwide.

Building on its collaborations with global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, Horizon Robotics showcased its flagship full-scenario urban-NOA (Navigate on Autopilot) solution, HSD (Horizon SuperDrive), at the event. SwarmFarm Robotics raises $30 million to scale farm-bot fleet and expand into North America

October 2, 2025 by David Edwards

Australian agtech company SwarmFarm Robotics has secured $30 million in Series B funding to accelerate the rollout of its autonomous “SwarmBots” and expand operations into North America, according to Business News Australia.

The round was led by European investor Edaphon, with participation from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), QIC and Artesian Capital. The CEFC contributed $7 million through its Powering Australia Technology Fund.

Founded by farmers Andrew and Jocie Bate, SwarmFarm develops lightweight, self-driving robots designed to reduce machinery costs and environmental impacts. Rather than competing in the race for ever-larger tractors and harvesters, the company builds small, simple autonomous machines that can operate together in fleets.
