Tiny industrial robot maker Mecademic introduces certified integrator program

Mecademic, the maker of the tiniest industrial robots in the world, has launched a Certified Integrator Program.

This follows a soft introduction earlier this year at Automate 2025 in Chicago and further discussions during Automatica 2025, held June 24-27 in Munich.

This new initiative, developed for system integrators and custom machine builders, supports industry growth, accelerates automation deployment, and promotes long-term collaboration across precision-driven sectors such as medical devices, electronics, photonics, and advanced manufacturing.

HD Hyundai Robotics launches new industrial robot controller with ‘enhanced safety and AI integration’

HD Hyundai Robotics has launched its next-generation industrial AI robot controller, the Hi7, which the company says “significantly enhances safety, AI capabilities, and user convenience”.

The newly released controller is equipped with HD Hyundai Robotics’ proprietary AI-based safety control solution, SafeSpace 2.0, enabling advanced safety simulations and motion control features.

By analyzing situational data collected from sensors, the AI predicts potential risks during operation and autonomously halts robot movements upon detecting motion or impact, effectively preventing safety incidents. Amkor Technology to expand investment in Arizona campus to $7 billion

Amkor Technology, a provider of semiconductor packaging and test services, in collaboration with the Trump Administration, has announced the groundbreaking and expanded planned investment of its new state-of-the-art outsourced semiconductor advanced packaging and test campus in Arizona.

The expanded investment includes additional cleanroom space and a second greenfield packaging and test facility, increasing total project investment by more than $5 billion, to a total of $7 billion across two phases.

Energy Robotics secures $13.5 million Series A to scale critical infrastructure inspections with AI and robotics

Energy Robotics, a provider of an AI software platform for autonomous inspection with robots and drones, has announced the successful close of $13.5m of Series A funding. 

Energy Robotics has completed over 1 million inspections across five continents, saving 32,000+ hours of hazardous human labor for customers across oil and gas, industrial, chemical, and utility sectors, including Shell, BP, Repsol, BASF, Merck and E.ON.

ABB to sell its robotics division to SoftBank Group for $5.4 billion

ABB has signed an agreement to divest its robotics division to SoftBank Group for an enterprise value of $5.375 billion and not pursue its earlier intention to spin off the business as a separately listed company.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and further customary closing conditions and is expected to close in mid-to-late 2026.

Peter Voser, chairman of ABB, says: “SoftBank’s offer has been carefully evaluated by the Board and Executive Committee and compared with our original intention for a spin-off. It reflects the long-term strengths of the division, and the divestment will create immediate value to ABB shareholders. Nidec expands in Mena, Arkansas, with $19 million investment

Nidec Motor Corporation is expanding its existing facility in Mena, Arkansas, with an investment of more than $19 million. With the expansion, Nidec aims to create 35 new jobs over five years.

Claudemir dos Santos, COO of Nidec Appliance, Commercial and Industrial Motors (ACIM) and vice president of operations for North America and Latin America, says: “This significant investment in our plant in Mena marks a milestone in our growth as a manufacturer of electric motors.

Cyberwave raises €7 million to integrate AI agents with physical machines

Cyberwave, a startup building the operating layer between AI agents and real-world machines, has secured a €7 million funding round led by United Ventures with participation from The TechShop.

The round also includes support from seed funds Vento (Exor) and Pi Campus, and a number of prominent angel investors.

The funding coincides with the October 2025 launch of Cyberwave’s digital twins platform and will support expansion of its developer ecosystem and validation of early enterprise use cases across manufacturing, logistics, and inspections. Viral college startup Series appoints humanoid robot CMO as it takes over Harvard campus

The Unitree humanoid robot will lead all marketing activities for Series. In the past week at Harvard University it took over Harvard Square and paraded the stadium at the Harvard v Brown game

Series, a fast-growing social networking platform, has announced the appointment of Uri, a humanoid robot, as its chief marketing officer (CMO). It has already dominated its first campaign at Harvard University generating 1 million views on social media in just 24 hours.

Uri kicked off the Series’ College tour by drawing large crowds towards the Series Composite of Harvard students at Harvard Square, immediately prompting students and tourists to take photos of the 8 feet by 12 feet banner.

He then handed matcha to energize and connect with students before parading the stadium stands during the Harvard versus Brown game, where roaring crowds signaled the campus-wide excitement surrounding this innovative launch. Evocargo launches UAE’s first commercial unmanned cargo transportation

The United Arab Emirates has taken what is described as “a historic step into the future of autonomous transportation” with the launch of the nation’s first commercial fleet of self-driving electric trucks in the Al Jazeera Al Hamra industrial zone, a cutting-edge hub for large-scale projects.
