The two companies say they are developing a standard for the upcoming Volkswagen electric car generation.

In the scenic setting of Frenštát pod Radhoštěm at the foot of the Beskid Mountains, the Vitesco Technologies site is celebrating its 25th anniversary as well as its “high degree of automation” which is enabling the company to produce advanced technologies more efficiently than ever before.
In May 1995, the site started producing electronic components for the automotive industry, initially with 100 employees.
Today, the Czech site with its workforce of approximately 3,000 is one of the largest employers in the region and is also one of the largest electronics plants owned by Vitesco Technologies, the Powertrain Technologies group sector of Continental. Siemens has acquired Swedish service and software company Vizendo, a provider of virtual operator training for automotive manufacturing.
Virtual training enables industrial companies to reduce their training times and launch new products faster and in higher quality.
Karen Florschütz, CEO of the customer services business unit at Siemens, says: “Virtual training has huge growth potential. Tech Soft 3D, a provider of software development toolkits to engineering software companies, has released HOOPS Exchange 2020.
The company describes it as “the industry’s fastest and most accurate CAD data access and reuse technology for manufacturing and architecture, engineering and construction workflows”.

MindSphere, the industrial internet of things platform from Siemens, has been named a leader in its market by an independent research firm.
MindSphere can be described as an industrial technology “ecosystem”, which now integrates software from SAS, AWS, Microsoft, Alibaba and Arrow Electronics.
Siemens says the IIoT has the potential to significantly improve global productivity and growth, with Accenture estimating that this latest wave of digital innovation will accelerate the reinvention of sectors that account for almost two-thirds of world output and add $14.2 trillion to the global economy by 2030. Siemens has introduced a new line module for the Ruggedcom RST2228 and RST2228P Layer 2 19” rack switches, the Ruggedcom RMM2972-2RNA.
This module strengthens the Ruggedcom RST2228 19” rack switch offering to the electric power utilities by providing seamless redundancy with PRP/HSR (Parallel Redundancy Protocol/High-availability Seamless Redundancy), enhanced IEEE1588 implementation, high bandwidth uplinks, and traffic filtering and segmentation from a single device.

Siemens and Qualcomm Technologies have implemented what they say is the first private 5G standalone network in a real industrial environment using the 3.7-3.8GHz band.
Siemens is providing the actual industrial test conditions and end devices such as Simatic control systems and IO devices and Qualcomm Technologies is supplying the 5G test network and the relevant test equipment.
The 5G network was installed in Siemens’ Automotive Showroom and Test Center in Nuremberg (main picture). Deal would make MHMM sole owner of Primetals Technologies
Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery (MHMM) and Siemens have reached agreement for MHMM to acquire Siemens’ 49 percent stake in Primetals Technologies.
Closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected by early 2020.
Siemens will support the process to ensure a successful closing of the transaction. Following closing, MHMM will assume sole control of Primetals Technologies. Siemens Healthineers is set to acquire what the company describes as a “forerunner in robotic-assisted vascular interventions”, Corindus Vascular Robotics.
The engineering giant says the acquisition of Corindus is a “strategically significant extension of Siemens Healthineers’ Advanced Therapies business”.
