Rosendin to showcase robotic solar installation system at Texas job site

April 12, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Rosendin, which claims to be the largest employee-owned electrical contractor in the US, is preparing to publicly demonstrate a new robotic system designed to accelerate the construction of solar energy projects. (See video below.)

The showcase, scheduled for April 17 at a utility-scale solar site in West Texas, will feature a three-part autonomous robotic system developed to install photovoltaic (PV) panels more quickly and safely than traditional manual methods.

The robotics platform is the result of a multi-year collaboration between Rosendin’s Renewable Energy Group and ULC Technologies, a company known for its robotic innovations in the energy sector. [Read more…] about Rosendin to showcase robotic solar installation system at Texas job site

Integrated Fire Protection for Computer Rooms and Data Centres

December 31, 2024 by David Edwards

Fire safety systems are essential components of any building, but computer rooms and data centres present particular hazards that require special precautions when protecting against potential fire damage.

Integrated fire systems connect various fire safety components into one cohesive system, providing faster responses to alarms and decreasing false detection rates. Testing and commissioning must take place simultaneously to ensure these integrated systems operate seamlessly together. The Future of Solar Panel Cleaning: Robots vs Humans

April 27, 2023 by Mark Allinson

One of the advantages of solar systems is their minimal maintenance.

This is true, there are no moving parts in the panels that can fail due to friction, they do not wear out, so they can serve for a long time without loss of efficiency.

But often users notice that performance has started to drop. Some even call specialists, believing that something is wrong with the batteries. There’s something wrong with them, they are just dirty.

Solar systems need constant care. It is necessary to clean the surface of the panels at least 2 times a year – in spring and autumn, but it is better to do this more often. [Read more…] about The Future of Solar Panel Cleaning: Robots vs Humans

Best MPPT or PWM solar controller for the camper

December 16, 2022 by Mark Allinson

PWM and MPPT charge controllers are both devices widely used to charge batteries using energy produced by solar panels on campers and boats and, of course, in fixed installations.

The PWM controller is a switch connecting the solar panels to your service battery. This device can substantially reduce the voltage of the meetings until it reaches that of the battery bank.

The MPPT controller, on the other hand, is more sophisticated (and more expensive): it regulates its input voltage to harvest the maximum possible power from the solar panels. [Read more…] about Best MPPT or PWM solar controller for the camper

IDS to host free online event ‘Capture the Light’ presented by its image processing experts

June 14, 2021 by David Edwards

For the successful implementation of image processing applications, it is not only important to choose the right camera and a suitable image sensor.

In order to capture light without interference and convert it into usable information, suitable optics and high-quality filter glasses also play a decisive role.

The focus event “Capture the Light” on June 24th at 2 pm BST addresses this topic in three exciting sessions. [Read more…] about IDS to host free online event ‘Capture the Light’ presented by its image processing experts

DFI provides ‘the most reliable brain and cerebellum’ for giant AGV in LCD panel factories

May 20, 2021 by Elaine

DFI’s AMR-dedicated AI computer enhances mobility and accuracy of mobile robots

The humble LCD panel was originally one of the Taiwanese government’s “Two Trillion & Twin Star” plan to develop its high-tech sectors. Now, it’s one of the country’s most significant symbols of electronics manufacturing.

With the trend of panel generation becoming larger and larger, in the production line of large-size panels, handling technology is also relatively important. [Read more…] about DFI provides ‘the most reliable brain and cerebellum’ for giant AGV in LCD panel factories

Growing interest in Linux tablets and panels in 2021

May 13, 2021 by David Edwards

The end of 2020 and beginning of 2021 has shown an uptick in searches and inquiries for tablet PCs and panel PCs with Linux operating systems. The bulk of those searches are for Linux Tablet PCs.

With industrial panel PCs that handle Linux natively and rugged tablet PCs that can utilize Linux as a custom ODM (original design manufacturer) or OEM (original equipment manufacturer) project, Estone Technology explored potential causes for this uptick in search.

The product lines for Linux panel PC and a tablet with Linux have distinctly different uses. We will explore some of the benefits of Linux by the type of product to identify the cause for the trend. [Read more…] about Growing interest in Linux tablets and panels in 2021
