OnRobot releases ‘world’s most powerful’ electric vacuum gripper for robot arms

February 25, 2021 by David Edwards

OnRobot has released what it describes as the “world’s most powerful” electric vacuum gripper for robot arms.

OnRobot says its new VGP20 electric vacuum gripper provides a powerful and versatile solution for challenging palletising scenarios including heavy, bulky and porous surfaces.

Large, unwieldy bags of dog food, non-airtight clothing or consumer goods packages, and bulky, porous cardboard boxes. These are just some examples of demanding packaging and palletising applications that OnRobot’s new VGP20 gripper can address. SICK launches new image-based code reader

August 28, 2020 by David Edwards

SICK has expanded its portfolio of image-based code readers with the launch of the Lector61x.

The compact device detects 1D, 2D, and stacked codes for identification, inspection, or content monitoring in production processes.

The trend toward smaller batch sizes in manufacturing and production processes drove the development of this compact code reader, which SICK says enables manufacturers to maintain short throughput times, in spite of individualized products, and remain competitive in production. Canon launches new semiconductor lithography system

July 13, 2020 by David Edwards

Canon has launched the FPA-8000iW, which it describes as the first Canon semiconductor lithography system to support manufacturing using large panels that are common in back-end processing.

Integrating a proprietary projection optical system, the FPA-8000iW i-line stepper offers a wide exposure field and fine 1 µm† pattern resolution.

The FPA-8000iW was designed to meet the needs of manufacturers aiming for high production efficiency through the use of 515 x 510 mm organic panel substrates for Panel Level Packaging (PLP) applications. [Read more…] about Canon launches new semiconductor lithography system

OnRobot launches ‘intelligent screwdriver’ for collaborative robots

June 18, 2020 by David Edwards

OnRobot, the maker of tools for collaborative robots, has released a screwdriver end-effector for collaborative robots. (See video below.)

OnRobot says its “smart, complete-out-of-the-box” Screwdriver allows manufacturers to automate a wide range of assembly processes quickly, easily, and flexibly.

The company says this provides welcome relief for manufacturers who are eager to automate repetitive, unergonomic, and often inconsistent manual screwdriving processes, but who struggle to integrate and program typical piecemeal screwdriving systems.
