December 7, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Back in 2010 when Instagram first launched, most of the photos on the platform were taken with low-quality smartphones using the in-app camera.

These days, those posts look unacceptably blurry and pixelated compared to the mix of high-quality amateur and professionally processed photos found on the site.

Along with where to buy likes for instagram, how to take good photos is one of the most frequently requested pieces of advice. This article will set people on the right path toward being better Instagram photographers. [Read more…] about How to Take Good Instagram Pictures with Your Phone

Uruguay to build world’s largest smart street lighting system in Montevideo

February 7, 2022 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

National Narrowband Network Company (NNNCo), operator of the Australian national LoRaWAN network powered by Actility, has signed a contract with a European technology provider Wellness TechGroup, to provide IoT network coverage to 70,000 smart streetlights in Uruguay’s capital Montevideo.

LoRaWAN stands for low-power wide-area network. It defines the communication protocol and system architecture for the network, while the LoRa physical layer enables the long-range communication link. LoRaWAN is also responsible for managing the communication frequencies, data rate, and power for all devices.

The Montevideo infrastructure will include a private LoRaWAN network based on Actility’s ThingPark Enterprise IoT platform, and managed on customer premises. [Read more…] about Uruguay to build world’s largest smart street lighting system in Montevideo

One of the encouraging aspects of today’s vehicles is that they need fewer service visits to maintain them in peak operating conditions.

Maintaining your vehicle isn’t a one-time event. You don’t have to wait for your parents to recap you to get your tires rotated or renewed oil. [Read more…] about Tips for Your Car Maintenance

SICK launches new image-based code reader

August 28, 2020 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

SICK has expanded its portfolio of image-based code readers with the launch of the Lector61x.

The compact device detects 1D, 2D, and stacked codes for identification, inspection, or content monitoring in production processes.

The trend toward smaller batch sizes in manufacturing and production processes drove the development of this compact code reader, which SICK says enables manufacturers to maintain short throughput times, in spite of individualized products, and remain competitive in production. New AppHarvest funding round brings total to $150 million

August 18, 2020 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

Indoor farming startup AppHarvest has raised $28 million in its latest funding round, bringing the total to $150 million.

As Bloomberg reports, AppHarvest is building “the world’s largest greenhouse” in Morehead, Kentucky in the US.

AppHarvest uses similar indoor farming techniques to those used by so-called “vertical farming” companies in that it can irrigate its crops using 90 percent less water than traditional farming techniques. [Read more…] about New AppHarvest funding round brings total to $150 million

Automated Automotive Lighting is a Component That We Shouldn’t Overlook. Here’s Why.

August 17, 2020 by Polly Leave a Comment

Automation is one of the things that tech companies tout proudly, and with good reason. It stands to revolutionize the way technology influences our lives.

While some people may view this as something akin to an encouragement for complacence, at its very core, automation is meant to function as an assistive tool rather than a replacement for human functions.

This is especially applicable to the realm of automotive automation, where the safety and lives of people are at stake. [Read more…] about Automated Automotive Lighting is a Component That We Shouldn’t Overlook. Here’s Why.

ASTI Mobile Robotics and BOOS Technical Lighting develop a mobile robot to fight coronavirus

June 5, 2020 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

ASTI Mobile Robotics and BOOS Technical Lighting have developed a mobile disinfection robot against coronavirus which uses the ultraviolet light to eliminate germs and pathogens in the air as well as on surfaces and objects.

The radiation emitted by the robot, which can move around the facilities to be disinfected, achieves a reduction in the viral and bacterial load of up to 99.99 percent, says the company.

ASTI says the exclusive design of the lamp, in terms of power, intensity and size combined with the continuous movement of the vehicle, favours proximity to the critical areas to be disinfected, as well as minimising shadow spaces and maximising disinfection on horizontal and vertical planes “in record time”. Mitsubishi Electric develops tech for controlling mobile robots

February 4, 2020 by Mai Tao Leave a Comment

Mitsubishi Electric says it has developed a technology for controlling “in-building” mobile robots used for cleaning, security, delivery and guidance, as well as next-generation electric wheelchairs.

The company says the software uses building dynamic maps to achieve cooperative interaction between the mobile machines and building facilities, such as elevators and access control systems.

Mitsubishi says that by supporting the safe, efficient movement of people and in-building mobilities in buildings, the new technology is expected to reduce the workloads of building-management personnel and help realize smart buildings in which people and robots coexist safely.
