GMEX Robotics advances autonomous hospital logistics robot

April 22, 2026 by David Edwards

GMEX Robotics, a developer of AI-powered robotic technologies, has announced a significant advancement of its hospital logistics robot.

The company is addressing one of the key limitations in existing portable conveyor-type medical tracked robots, which typically require medical staff or patients to bend over to retrieve items, making it inconvenient to adjust to a height suitable for operator use, and which are easily damaged if the sides are impacted by walls or oncoming foot or material traffic.

GMEX’s enhanced design focuses on improving durability, resilience and usability, reducing the risk of damage from external impacts while supporting consistent performance in high-traffic hospital environments. [Read more…] about GMEX Robotics advances autonomous hospital logistics robot

Serve Robotics to acquire Diligent Robotics, expanding autonomy platform into hospitals

January 31, 2026 by Sam Francis

Serve Robotics has agreed to acquire healthcare robotics company Diligent Robotics, marking its first move beyond outdoor, sidewalk-based delivery and into indoor environments such as hospitals.

The deal brings Diligent’s autonomous hospital robot, Moxi, into Serve’s portfolio and expands the company’s autonomy platform into healthcare settings that require high reliability, safety, and close interaction with people.

Diligent Robotics was founded in 2017 by Andrea Thomaz and Vivian Chu and has raised more than $100 million from investors including Tiger Global, Canaan, and True Ventures.

The company develops AI-powered robot assistants designed to support clinical staff by handling routine logistics tasks inside hospitals. [Read more…] about Serve Robotics to acquire Diligent Robotics, expanding autonomy platform into hospitals

Healthcare support robots: Assisting patients and medical staff

October 10, 2025 by Mai Tao

Healthcare systems around the world are under increasing strain. Ageing populations, rising patient numbers, and chronic staff shortages mean hospitals and care homes are looking for ways to deliver more care with fewer resources.

Against this backdrop, robots are emerging as valuable assistants – not to replace doctors and nurses, but to take on physically demanding, repetitive, or high-risk tasks.

This article is not about surgical robots – the machines that perform operations in operating theatres. Those are a different category and will be covered separately. [Read more…] about Healthcare support robots: Assisting patients and medical staff

Aethon partners with Oracle to integrate cloud data processing into its robots

September 30, 2025 by David Edwards

Aethon, the robotics unit of ST Engineering, has partnered with Oracle to deliver an integrated solution that automates and unifies hospital inventory transport and management, creating an intelligent approach to managing supplies that helps hospitals enhance operational efficiency.

Through integrating Aethon’s autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and vision-based logistics control with Oracle Fusion Cloud Advanced Inventory Management which is part of Oracle Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM), hospitals deploying the AMRs can now seamlessly connect material transport with digital inventory and supply chain systems and workflows.

The integration links Oracle’s inventory picking process directly to Aethon’s AMR and vision system, enabling automatic material pickup and delivery and closes the loop with delivery status updates and final inventory location within the Oracle system for real-time visibility and accuracy. Kawasaki develops nurse assistant robot with Foxconn

July 4, 2025 by David Edwards

Kawasaki Heavy Industries has co-developed nurse assistant robot “Nurabot” through a strategic partnership with Foxconn, the world’s largest electronics manufacturing services company from Taiwan.

Aiming for market launch in FY2026, they have been conducting verification experiments since April 2025 at the Taichung Veterans General Hospital, a national hospital in Taiwan.

Medical institutions in advanced countries are experiencing increasingly serious shortages of medical professionals, particularly nurses. [Read more…] about Kawasaki develops nurse assistant robot with Foxconn

Robots in Healthcare and Human Perception

October 19, 2020 by Polly

Robots. They are everywhere. Every sector in human society now has robots that perform all sorts of tasks. Many times, those tasks are some that could harm flesh and blood if humans did it, or those where human error could be catastrophic, or those where human efforts would be too slow.

In the healthcare sector today, robots pervade the space, especially in first world countries.

This article discusses the uses, benefits, and disadvantages of robots in the healthcare industry. It then goes ahead to discuss the perception of humans about these machines. [Read more…] about Robots in Healthcare and Human Perception
