Artificial Intelligence: UNESCO calls on all Governments to implement Global Ethical Framework ‘without delay’

Following calls by over 1,000 tech workers this week for a pause in the training of the most powerful AI systems, including Chat GPT, UNESCO is calling on countries to fully implement its Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence immediately.

This global normative framework, adopted unanimously by the 193 Member States of the Organization, provides all the necessary safeguards.

Saudi Industrial Investment Group stakes $70 million in Unibio

Unibio has announced an investment of approximately $70 million from the Saudi Industrial Investment Group (SIIG).

Unibio was the Wealth Club’s first ever single company Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) offer to its clients in 2017.

Autonomous logistics startup Venti Technologies raises $28.8 million in Series A funding

Venti Technologies, a provider of autonomous logistics for global supply chain and industrial hubs, has secured $28.8 million in a Series A financing.

The financing round was led by LG Technology Ventures, the Silicon Valley-based venture capital arm of the LG Group, with participation from Safar Partners, UOB Venture Management, and existing investors Alpha JWC and LDV Partners.

ABB to invest another $20 million on expanding its robotics factory in US

ABB has strengthened its commitment to one of its largest customer markets – the US – with construction starting on the expansion of its existing North American robotics headquarters and manufacturing facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The project is expected to be completed in November 2023 and represents an investment of $20 million. The expansion will create 72 highly skilled new jobs in the area and is supported by a $450,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.

Hannover Messe: Connectivity and climate neutrality

The list of challenges facing industry is long: climate change, energy shortages, disrupted supply chains and a shortage of skilled labor. The solution to these challenges lies in the targeted use of technology.

DB Schenker opens giant new automated e-commerce logistics hub in Spain

DB Schenker, a supply chain management and logistics service provider, has started operations at one of the largest automated e-commerce facilities servicing its retail customers in Spain, Portugal and France.

Operations in the 50,000 sq meter state-of-the-art warehouse in Guadalajara have started with 150 employees on newly created jobs, more than 200 robots and an optimized packaging system.

The site is equipped with a Goods-to-Person picking system to handle around 55,000 units per day using Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) provided by Geek+, the global leader in AMR technology. The system features innovative pick-and-pack solutions for a fast and flexible online-order fulfillment and efficiently deal with returns. Qcells investing $2.5 billion in US solar power manufacturing facility

Qcells is building a solar power manufacturing facility in Georgia, US, with a historic investment of $2.5 billion.

Automation specialist B&R looking for hundreds of new employees as it significantly expands production

The ABB Group is expanding production at B&R, its global center for machine and factory automation based in Eggelsberg, Austria.

Now that the global supply chain bottlenecks have eased recently, B&R wants to meet the high customer demand for automation solutions as quickly as possible.
