Robotics: A Global Industrial Policy Competition

September 10, 2024 by Mark Allinson

By Marc Fasteau and Ian Fletcher

This article is extracted from the robotics case study in Industrial Policy for the United States: Winning the Competition for Good Jobs and High-Value Industries by Marc Fasteau and Ian Fletcher.

The book argues that in order to compete for economic and political power, America must adopt a three-pronged approach to industrial policy that encompasses tariffs and trade; manufacturing and innovation support; and a strategy to bring down the overvaluation of the dollar.

David P. Goldman calls the “standard reference work on industrial policy in the foreseeable future” in a recent American Conservative article. The book is on sale through Cambridge University Press from September 30, 2024.

Coverage, Exclusions and Benefits of Mediclaim Policy for Family

September 13, 2022 by Mark Allinson

A sort of insurance coverage known as mediclaim insurance is created expressly to pay for the policyholder’s medical costs. The insurer reimburses your expenses when medical bills are reported to the insurance company under a mediclaim policy.

Mediclaim plans additionally provide cashless treatment insurance in the event that a person lacks the financial means to pay for medical expenses. The policyholder of a cashless treatment plan need not worry about bill payments because the insurance provider would cover the hospital expenses immediately.

But your family’s safety and well-being are equally crucial to you. A mediclaim policy for family protects every member of your family from unforeseen medical expenses and gives them access to top-notch medical care in the event of a medical emergency. The Importance of Cybersecurity in the Modern Workforce: 3 Tips to Protect Your Company

April 23, 2020 by Polly

Moving your small business online is a great way to build your business brand and help open up brand new avenues to market your product or service.

However, opening your business up online can also leave you open to cyber-attacks, which means that in addition to developing a website and strong digital marketing strategy, you need to think about developing a strong cybersecurity policy.

While a cyberattack is potentially harmful regardless of who is the victim, for a business it can be even more damaging and potentially deadly. [Read more…] about The Importance of Cybersecurity in the Modern Workforce: 3 Tips to Protect Your Company

Policy wonks call for 250,000 redundancies

February 6, 2017 by Abdul Montaqim

A think tank in the UK has called on the government to fire 250,000 public sector workers and use automation technology instead.

The Reform group released a report in which it says that the government is excessively bureaucratic and inefficient.

Although similar ideas are being floated in the US, there seems no general public discussion about subject.

US President Donald Trump has, however, ordered a freeze on hiring for all civilian departments of the government.

Consumer Watchdog has called on US President Barack Obama to hold expected autonomous vehicle policies and stop the administration’s undue haste to get autonomous vehicle technology on the road after newly released documents showed “an inappropriate and possibly unethical relationship between Google and key members of your administration involved in developing autonomous vehicle policy”.

In a letter to Obama, John Simpson, Consumer Watchdog’s privacy project director, writes: “The new revelations make it even more imperative that any such NHTSA policy statements be delayed until adequate Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards covering autonomous technologies are implemented through a public rule-making process.”  [Read more…] about US government officials criticized for ‘inappropriate’ relationship with autonomous car developer Google
