How Precision Machining is Powering the Future of Innovation

April 14, 2026 by Sam Francis

If you’ve ever wondered what actually goes into building an aircraft engine part or a robotic joint that works perfectly every single time, the answer almost always comes back to precision machining.

It’s not the flashiest topic in manufacturing, but it’s quietly responsible for why so many modern technologies can exist at all. CNC machining has evolved dramatically over the past decade, and shops like XTJ CNC in Carmel, Indiana are a good example of where things stand today.

This piece covers what precision machining looks like now, how it connects to robotics and automation, and what’s coming next. [Read more…] about How Precision Machining is Powering the Future of Innovation

Most manufacturers adopting automation, but few see real results, report finds

April 9, 2026 by Sam Francis

A new report from Eclipse Automation suggests that while factory automation is now widespread across North America, only a small proportion of manufacturers are achieving meaningful outcomes from their investments.

The study, based on a survey of more than 600 executives across the automotive, medical device, and consumer-industrial sectors, found that although up to 70 percent of US manufacturers and 60 percent of Canadian firms report using some form of automation, levels of maturity and performance vary significantly.

The findings point to a growing divide between companies that are successfully translating automation into measurable returns and those that are struggling to move beyond early-stage deployments. [Read more…] about Most manufacturers adopting automation, but few see real results, report finds

The Growing Demand for Aluminum CNC Machining in Modern Industries

April 8, 2026 by Sam Francis

Walk into almost any production facility today and you will notice something. Aluminum is everywhere. It shows up in aerospace components, car parts, medical tools, and consumer gadgets. And most of those parts went through a CNC machine at some point.

That is not a coincidence. As the demand for precise, lightweight parts keeps climbing, this combination is becoming more central to how modern manufacturing gets done.

The global CNC machining market is projected to exceed $100 billion by 2026, and companies like Yijin Solution, known for their reliable aluminum CNC machining service, are already doing the kind of work that reflects where the industry is heading. Robotronic and Mitsubishi Electric launch high-speed pharma palletising system

April 8, 2026 by Sam Francis

A long-standing automation partnership between a Swiss machine builder and one of the world’s leading manufacturers of industrial robots is aiming to help transform the pharmaceutical supply chain in Europe with the launch of what is believed to be the ‘smallest’ automated palletising cell for vials and pre-filled syringes.

Swiss-based Robotronic has partnered with Mitsubishi Electric’s Factory Automation EMEA division for more than two decades.

Now, the two organisations are collaborating together on a new low-footprint cell to help the pharmaceutical industry overcome record-high shortages across Europe in recent years for medicines ranging from children’s cough syrups through to antibiotics and even cancer treatments. Knee Mill vs Bed Mill: Which One Makes More Sense for Precision Manufacturing?

April 8, 2026 by Sam Francis

In precision manufacturing, the decision to produce a part comes down to figuring out the right equipment, not simply using the strongest machine in the shop.

For machine shops faced with this type of hardware selection decision, the endpoint often involves two prevalent vertical milling machine formats: knee mills and bed mills.

These machines both perform fundamental machining operations but differ in mechanical architecture, influencing setup speed, rigidity, and cutting capability. [Read more…] about Knee Mill vs Bed Mill: Which One Makes More Sense for Precision Manufacturing?

Injection Molding: The Only Guide You Need Before Spending a Dollar on Tooling

April 1, 2026 by Sam Francis

A guy spent $22,000 on a steel mold. Parts came back warped. The wall thickness was wrong. The factory said it was his design. He said it was their fault. Six months later, still no product. That story is not rare. It happens constantly to founders and engineers who skip the basics of injection molding.

So before you wire a single dollar to a tooling shop – read this first. [Read more…] about Injection Molding: The Only Guide You Need Before Spending a Dollar on Tooling

What Robotics Teams Really Need From a 3D Printing Partner

March 29, 2026 by Sam Francis

Robotics teams rarely struggle because a part cannot be printed at all. More often, they lose time because a part arrives with the wrong material, the wrong orientation, a missed drawing note, or small inconsistencies that only become obvious during assembly or testing.

That is why speed alone is not enough. For robotics teams, a useful 3D printing partner combines fast turnaround with reliability, technical judgment, quality control, and repeatability. The real value is not just getting one part made quickly. It is keeping development moving when designs change, deadlines tighten, and each new build reveals the next problem to solve.
