PIA Automation launches embodied AI and humanoid robotics division targeting industrial applications

PIA Automation, a provider of advanced automation solutions, today announced the launch of a new business segment, embodied AI and humanoid robotics, combining the company’s expertise in artificial intelligence, robotics and advanced manufacturing.

The move expands PIA’s automation solutions to include humanoid robots that can physically interact with their environment and adapt to changing production tasks.

ABB accelerates factory decarbonization with renewables and digital energy management program

ABB is advancing its Mission to Zero program at its Sasbach manufacturing site in Germany, demonstrating how on-site renewable energy, electrification and digital energy management can deliver meaningful emissions reductions while strengthening energy resilience.

The Sasbach site manufactures enclosures and energy distribution systems for local and regional markets, supporting ABB’s production footprint in Germany.

As part of ABB’s global Mission to Zero program, the site is implementing a data-led decarbonization roadmap focused on energy efficiency, renewable electricity and smart energy management. Volvo selects Sweden for its $74 million excavator assembly plant

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is expanding its European industrial footprint with a new crawler excavator assembly factory in Eskilstuna, Sweden, to be serving the European markets.

The 700 million SEK ($74 million) investment in Sweden is part of Volvo CE’s ambitions to strengthen its position in the important excavator segment.

The 30,000 square meter Eskilstuna facility aims to meet the growing European customer demand by increasing capacity and flexibility, and will enable reduced reliance on long-distance logistics, shorter delivery times, enhancing supply chain resilience and reducing carbon emissions. Sunrise Robotics emerges from stealth with $8.5 million funding

Sunrise Robotics, a company that says it’s “augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics”, is emerging from stealth with $8.5 million in funding led by Plural.

Tapestry, Seedcamp, Tiny.vc and Prototype Capital also participated. The investment will fuel the expansion of its European-wide team and enhance AI capabilities as the company scales production of the initial fleet of Sunrise intelligent robotic cells, bringing critical manufacturing capacity back to the continent.
