Robomart’s new autonomous vehicle challenges human delivery workers with $3 flat fee

August 27, 2025 by Mai Tao

A new autonomous vehicle from startup Robomart is set to challenge food delivery apps like DoorDash and Uber Eats with a flat $3 delivery fee, no hidden charges, and a multi-order capacity.

Unveiled this week, the new RM5 vehicle is a Level 4 autonomous, all-electric van with 10 individual climate-controlled lockers for customer orders, aiming to make on-demand delivery economically sustainable for both retailers and customers.

Unlike the small, sidewalk-based robots that are currently in use, Robomart’s RM5 is a larger, shuttle-sized vehicle with a 500-pound payload capacity. [Read more…] about Robomart’s new autonomous vehicle challenges human delivery workers with $3 flat fee

August 13, 2025 by Mai Tao

DHL, the world’s largest logistics company, is making one of its biggest single bets yet on robotics, announcing plans to deploy more than 1,000 additional robots across its UK operations as part of a £550 million (€637 million) investment.

The move underscores a broader shift in global logistics toward flexible, AI-powered automation designed to work alongside people rather than replace them.

In a post on LinkedIn, Tobias Meyer, CEO of DHL Group, framed the initiative as part of a wider transformation in how the company operates. [Read more…] about DHL’s 1,000-robot push signals a new phase in warehouse automation

Choosing the best pharma logistics partner in 2025: What services to look out for

August 11, 2025 by Mai Tao

Pharmaceutical firms usually operate across countries. This is why they need logistics partners that not only have local knowledge but also global reach. The logistics provider is one of the main links between the final user and the manufacturer of the product.

The role of a pharma logistics partner is to guarantee a seamlessly running supply chain. In the pharma industry, majority of the vaccines, medicines, and other biomaterials required for clinical research need stringent temperature control measures.

Divine Enterprises is a company that provides shipping services between countries while circumventing the local regulations. From following healthy safety laws to customs clearance, they take care of everything. [Read more…] about Choosing the best pharma logistics partner in 2025: What services to look out for

Starship launches robot food delivery service at Old Dominion University

August 6, 2025 by David Edwards

With the fall semester approaching, Grubhub and Starship Technologies rolled out their food delivery service today on Old Dominion University’s campus. This makes ODU one of only three universities in Virginia to feature this amenity.

Starship’s fleet of 11 autonomous, on-demand robots will deliver from seven campus eateries: Chick-fil-A (Webb Center and University Village), Starbucks (Webb Center and University Village), Panera Bread, Qdoba and Steak ‘N Shake.

Students, faculty, staff and the ODU community can now use the Grubhub app (iOS and Android) to order food and drinks from local retailers to be delivered anywhere on campus, within minutes. [Read more…] about Starship launches robot food delivery service at Old Dominion University

Serve Robotics and Little Caesars launch autonomous robot delivery via Uber Eats

August 6, 2025 by David Edwards

Serve Robotics, an autonomous sidewalk delivery company, and Little Caesars, America’s third-largest pizza chain, have agreed a partnership to deliver the brand’s iconic Hot-n-Ready pizza with Serve’s autonomous delivery robots via Uber Eats.

Little Caesars customers in Serve’s Los Angeles delivery area may now receive their orders via autonomous sidewalk robots. The partnership expands Serve’s presence on Uber Eats – which already offers Serve’s robotic deliveries in Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas and Atlanta – with additional US cities coming soon.

Ali Kashani, CEO of Serve Robotics, says: “Delivering for a beloved national chain like Little Caesars is another opportunity for us to show how we help merchants grow and give consumers a better delivery experience. Glīd launches ‘world-first’ unmanned autonomous road-to-rail dual mobility platform

July 18, 2025 by David Edwards

Glīd Tech, a dual-use logistics company specializing in autonomous, electrified road-to-rail mobility, has unveiled “the world’s first” unmanned, dual-mode Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform at the New Mobility Futures event. (See video below.)

The Glīd platform is built to serve the evolving demands of freight, defense, and industrial automation by uniting Rāden, a hybrid-electric unmanned ground vehicle, with EZRA-1SIX, Glīd’s AI-powered orchestration software.

Freight and defense logistics are at a breaking point. Legacy infrastructure, labor shortages, carbon mandates, and geopolitical instability have exposed deep inefficiencies in how goods move. [Read more…] about Glīd launches ‘world-first’ unmanned autonomous road-to-rail dual mobility platform

Shenzhen’s ‘penguin’ robots ride the metro to restock shops in world-first delivery test

July 16, 2025 by David Edwards

In a global first for urban logistics, a fleet of penguin-shaped delivery robots has begun using Shenzhen’s metro system as part of an integrated supply chain, marking a new milestone in automated goods distribution.

Developed by VX Logistics, a subsidiary of China’s Vanke Group, the autonomous robots were tested on Monday on Shenzhen Metro Line 2. The robots boarded a train at Wanxia Station, rode alongside passengers, and exited at their destinations to deliver goods to shops inside metro stations – without any human assistance.

The pilot project stands out not only for its novelty but for how it redefines the role of robots in supply chains. While delivery robots in the US and Europe are typically limited to short-range “last mile” use cases – navigating sidewalks to deliver food or parcels – Shenzhen’s system integrates robots into the existing metro infrastructure, enabling what could be called “middle-mile” automation.
