ABB helps Indian district manage its water amid drought

Global industrial giant ABB is supporting India’s Koppal district to ease water shortages with its digital water management solutions.

In a unique project led by L&T Construction Water & Effluent Treatment IC for the Government of Kartanaka, ABB’s solutions will help the local water authority to track, measure and optimize water use in this drought-stricken region of southwest India, as well as pump and distribute clean treated river water to village homes.

ABB establishes new R&D center for electric vehicle technology

ABB says it is “underlining its market leading position” in electric vehicle charging infrastructure by establishing a new E-mobility Innovation Lab, where it will house 120 specialists working on next generation solutions. (See video below.)

Designed to spur further innovations in e-mobility, the $10 million, 3,600 sq m facility is based on the Delft University of Technology campus, in the Netherlands and will drive ABB’s future portfolio development, as well as R&D projects for EVs. The University was ranked among the top 15 engineering and technology universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings in 2020.

Along with an investment of $30 million into a global Center of Excellence and production site for EV charging infrastructure, due to open next year in Italy, the facility in Delft underlines ABB’s plans to grow investments in sustaining its technology leadership. Daimler and Infosys Announce Partnership to Drive Hybrid Cloud-powered Innovation & IT Infrastructure Transformation

Daimler AG and Infosys have announced a long-term strategic partnership for a technology-driven IT infrastructure transformation. After the receipt of all regulatory approvals, Daimler AG will transform its IT operating model and infrastructure landscape across workplace services, service desk, data center, networks and SAP Basis together with Infosys. The partnership will enable the company to deepen its focus on software engineering and to establish a fully scalable on‑demand digital
IT infrastructure and anytime-anywhere workplace. The collaboration will empower Daimler to strengthen its
IT capabilities, and Infosys, its automotive expertise.

Vecna Robotics headquarters switches to 100 percent renewable energy

Vecna Robotics has switched to 100 percent renewable energy at its headquarters.

The company says it has a culture of “giving back and going green”.

New spin-out company uses AI and robotics to take the pain out of potholes

The University of Liverpool has formed a new spin out company – Robotiz3d Ltd – to take forward new technology that has the potential to radically transform road maintenance.

Robotiz3d Ltd is a joint venture spin out company established in partnership with A2e Ltd and will receive investment from the University’s Enterprise Investment Fund, alongside private equity investment from a2e Ltd. Delivery vehicles moving to electric ecosystem

The unlikely convergence of a global pandemic and electric vehicle technology is driving delivery fleets to adopt electric vehicles at ever increasing rates.

The coronavirus pandemic has reportedly caused a huge spike in package delivery. According to CNBC.com, UPS for instance, delivered up to 21.1 million packages a day in the second quarter of 2020, a nearly 23 percent jump in average daily US volume from a year earlier.

SVV claims China’s first dedicated low-volume manufacturing facility

Product development and engineering company Shenzen Valley Ventures (SVV) says its​ new manufacturing facility in China is its “first tier-1 facility” in the country. (See 3D tour of the facility.)

Located on the 9th floor of a skyscraper, SVV says it is “the most impressionable manufacturing facility in the Greater Bay Area’s Shenzhen”.

RE2 Robotics expands campus with acquisition of new building

RE2 Robotics, a developer of mobile robots, has expanded its Lawrenceville campus with the acquisition of a new facility. The new space will help the company to meet the growing demand for its robotic systems in both the defense and commercial markets.

Located at 4920 Harrison Ave, and directly across the street from its current office, the new facility will allow RE2 to increase its in-house manufacturing capabilities. The space, which measures approximately 10,000 square feet, features a large tank for testing RE2’s underwater manipulation systems, as well as both indoor and outdoor testing areas that will allow engineers to conduct on-site testing of the company’s robotic systems.

Delta provides EV charging solutions to Jaguar Land Rover Philippines

Delta Electronics Int’l (Singapore), a provider of power and thermal management solutions, installed the first electric vehicle charging station for a car manufacturer in the Philippines at the Coventry Motors Corporation Greenhills Showroom of Jaguar Land Rover Philippines.

Delta will supply AC Mini Plus chargers and DC Wallbox chargers to the showrooms and testing areas of Jaguar Land Rover Philippines located in 1008 EDSA Greenhills, San Juan and BGC, Taguig City.

Jaguar Land Rover Philippines has launched the Range Rover Sport HSE 2.0 Petrol PHEV, Range Rover Vogue 2.0 Petrol PHEV, Range Rover LWB Autobiography 2.0 Petrol PHEV and Jaguar I-PACE EV400 S models in the Philippines market.
