Lidar sensor makers choose Nvidia Drive for development

January 29, 2021 by David Edwards

Baraja, Hesai, Innoviz, Magna and Ouster join Nvidia Drive developer ecosystem

When it comes to autonomous vehicle sensor innovation, it’s best to keep an open mind – and an open development platform, according to chipmaker Nvidia.

That’s why Nvidia Drive is the chosen platform on which the majority of these sensors run, says the company.

In addition to camera sensors, Nvidia has long recognized that lidar is a crucial component to an autonomous vehicle’s perception stack. By emitting invisible lasers at incredibly fast speeds, lidar sensors can paint a detailed 3D picture from the signals that bounce back instantaneously. Bosch wins orders worth ‘billions’ for vehicle computers

January 27, 2021 by David Edwards

Automotive technology giant Bosch says it is winning orders worth “billions” for vehicle computers. Cars today each integrate hundreds of computer chips of various kinds, but few have central computers on board (see image below).

In modern cars, intelligence counts for a lot, and Bosch says its vehicle computers are there to provide it. These computers, the new all-rounders of automotive electronics, are incorporating ever more functions of individual control units into central, highly powerful electronic modules.

For more than a year now, Bosch vehicle computers have been controlling functions such as driver assistance systems and motion in production vehicles. And soon, they will be joined by central computers for cockpit functions and body electronics. [Read more…] about Bosch wins orders worth ‘billions’ for vehicle computers

Norwegian shared mobility provider Bilkollektivet chooses MOQO

January 20, 2021 by David Edwards

Environmentally friendly mobility concept with high growth potential

More and more people than ever before are signing up to Bilkollektivet, a co-operative founded 25 years ago in Oslo and the oldest car sharing provider in the country. Every month, 400 to 500 new people register up for the ever-growing pool of vehicles.

A co-operation between the Norwegians and the German mobility software specialist MOQO now makes car sharing even easier, more transparent and more convenient for both the operators and the approximately 11,000 users it now boasts.

Bilkollektivet currently has 603 cars in the capital Oslo and 15 cars in Stavanger, the fourth largest city in the country. The co-operative works in such a way that members become shareholders when they join the co-operative. [Read more…] about Norwegian shared mobility provider Bilkollektivet chooses MOQO

Delivering Content Like Never Before

January 7, 2021 by Polly

When you’re watching a movie on Netflix, skipping between one webpage to another, downloading an image, or accessing a cloud storage server, you’re getting some form of content.

The way this information is delivered to you actually involves an intricate and complex process that ensures that you’re getting the right content quickly.

Obtaining and assessing vital information has never been quicker or more efficient, and this is in large part thanks to the emergence of content delivery networks, which are a network of servers and data centres that work in tandem with each other in order to deliver a faster connection to users.
