Autolane raises $7.4 million and introduces curbside operating system for autonomous vehicles at Simon centers

December 4, 2025 by David Edwards

Autolane, a developer of autonomous vehicle infrastructure, has announced $7.4 million in funding co-led by Draper Associates and Hyperplane, with participation from LAUNCH and Feld Ventures. Additionally, Autolane is deploying its curbside operating system at four Simon Malls and properties in Texas and California.

The funding will accelerate Autolane’s deployment across the retail, restaurant, and commercial property sectors. The technology supports both autonomous ride-hailing services like Waymo and Tesla Robotaxi, as well as autonomous delivery vehicles serving retailers and restaurants within the shopping centers.

Since launching its first full-scale test site in the San Francisco Bay Area in May 2025, Autolane has demonstrated that dedicated autonomous vehicle infrastructure can reduce curbside pickup times by 50 percent or more via operational efficiencies in order communication, handoff, and execution. Cumberland, Georgia wins $6.6 million federal grant to launch autonomous shuttle network

November 21, 2025 by David Edwards

The investment will expand clean, connected, and accessible mobility through the Cumberland Autonomous Mobility Network across Georgia’s economic core

The Cumberland Community Improvement District (CID) and Cobb County, Georgia, will be a recipient of a $6.6 million grant through the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Low or No Emission Vehicle Program (Low-No) to launch a new autonomous shuttle network – the Cumberland Autonomous Mobility (CAM) Network – a breakthrough initiative that will connect people, jobs, and destinations across Metro Atlanta’s Cumberland district.

This award distinguishes Cumberland as the first and only autonomous vehicle project in the country to receive the Low-No grant award.

The CAM Network will leverage American technology to deploy a fleet of eight ADA-accessible autonomous shuttles, establishing a connected public transit system that will enhance first- and last-mile access, improve quality of life, and redefine mobility within one of the Southeast’s most dynamic business and entertainment communities. Interview with CEO of autonomous truck tech developer Arbe Robotics: ‘There’s no other radar like ours’

November 21, 2025 by David Edwards

The autonomous trucking sector is entering one of its most dynamic phases yet. After a decade of scattered pilots, cautious investment, and shifting timelines, the industry is now edging closer to real commercial deployment.

Several factors are converging at once: persistent driver shortages across the freight industry, rising pressure to improve efficiency on long-haul routes, and increasingly mature technology stacks capable of handling high-speed, highway-level autonomy.

Unlike robotaxis – which must navigate dense urban environments filled with unpredictable human behaviour – autonomous trucks benefit from a more structured operational domain.
