MiR launches warehouse robot for heavy lifting

Mobile Industrial Robots has launched a new autonomous mobile robotic platform for heavy lifting. 

MiR already has two other similar products, called the MiR 100 and the MiR 200, with the number indicating how many kilograms it can carry.

Toyota and Denso to consolidate production of components

Toyota Motor and its main supplier Denso have agreed to begin considerations toward consolidating the core electronic component operations of both Toyota and Denso within Denso.

Currently, advanced development and mass-production development for Toyota’s electronic components, as well as the production of such components, are conducted by both Toyota and Denso.

Tata collaborates with Wabco on advanced driver assistance tech

The commercial vehicle business unit of Tata Motors is moving ahead with the development of safety-enhancing advanced driver assistance system solutions for deployment on its medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles.

This ambitious goal is aimed at reducing the number of road accidents, increasing vehicular as well as occupant safety, in a broad range of visibility conditions.

Microtechnology event reports ‘solid performance’ from the 17th EPHJ-EPMT-SMT Trade Show

With the recovery in the watchmaking and jewellery industry in full swing, the 17th EPHJ-EPMT-SMT Trade Show met with an extremely positive response, both in terms of the business that was done as well as the number of visitors who attended, which equalled the same high level seen in previous years.

When the EPHJ-EPMT-SMT Trade Show closed its doors after four days, the 820 exhibitors and the organisers alike were said to have had a big smile on their faces.

Microtechnology event EPHJ has honoured SY&SE with this year’s 2018 exhibitors’ grand prize.

In a break with technological tradition, the young start-up from La Chaux-de-Fonds has created a sensation with the revolutionary new material bonding technology intended to replace glue or other welding techniques.

ESIT demonstrates new collaborative robot at FabTech Canada

ESIT has been demonstrating its new collaborative robot at the recent FabTech Canada event.

The company says its “GCIR” robot platform has successfully passed the “M-phase” review panel, which is probably to do with manufacturing.

BMW claims to be ‘first’ global automaker to obtain autonomous driving licence in China

BMW claims to have become the first international automaker to obtain an autonomous driving road test license in China.

The German auto giant says this is “important step” on its path to autonomous driving.

BMW Group officially obtained the Shanghai Intelligent Connected Autonomous Driving Test License, issued by the Intelligent Connected Vehicle Road Test Promotion Team – consisting of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau and Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission. Only a quarter of businesses currently able to attract recruits with right skills, says Epicor

Modern enterprise resource planning software, robotics, automation, and artificial intelligence could plug emerging industry skills gap and help businesses get fit for digital transformation

With over half the industry’s workforce aged over 35, and a third aged over 40, businesses in manufacturing, lumber, distribution, and retail are facing a dangerous skills gap on their factory floors, if they fail to recruit new talent before too long.

This is one of the findings of the latest research from Epicor Software Corporation, a global provider of industry-specific enterprise software to promote business growth.

People are generally allergic to change, even if it can help them. We are used to living our lives a certain way and discourage change, often neglecting its benefits.

However, change is constant and you cannot stop it, especially when it comes to technology.
