Cutting Spam With Yelp Integration for Restaurant Calls

March 9, 2026 by David Edwards

Restaurants deal with spam calls on a daily basis. These unnecessary disruptions waste time, disrupt service, and divert staff attention from customers.

Organizing useful calls and filtering out irrelevant ones can improve efficiency. This represents a more effective way to solve the problem, one that can be achieved by integrating Yelp into restaurant call systems. [Read more…] about Cutting Spam With Yelp Integration for Restaurant Calls

BrainChip named official technology sponsor for Raytheon’s autonomous vehicle competition

March 8, 2026 by David Edwards

BrainChip, which says it is “the world’s first commercial producer of ultra-low-power, fully digital, event-based neuromorphic AI”, has announced its role as the official technology sponsor for the 2025-2026 Raytheon Autonomous Vehicle Competition.

The Raytheon AVC, themed “Operation Touchdown”, challenges undergraduate engineering teams from across four regions – South, Puerto Rico, West Coast, and East Coast – to design and integrate a collaborative system of systems involving at least one Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and one Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV).

Teams must demonstrate fully autonomous navigation, target identification, and collaborative behaviors, including the signature challenge of autonomously landing a UAV on a moving UGV. [Read more…] about BrainChip named official technology sponsor for Raytheon’s autonomous vehicle competition

HEBI Robotics awarded $850,000 business contract by NASA

March 8, 2026 by David Edwards

NASA has awarded HEBI Robotics continued Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding in the form of a Phase II grant for the creation and testing of physical actuation hardware components for use in the harsh environments of space.

This two-year, $850,000 project continues NASA’s investment in HEBI Robotics to develop modular actuation hardware for use in space.

These include control electronics (avionics), compatible with the HEBI Robotics ecosystem and other third-party systems, to enable the rapid development of flight-qualified integrated actuation technology for Earth Orbit Environments (LEO-Low Earth Orbit and GEO-Geosynchronous Earth Orbit).

Difficult conditions such as ionizing radiation and the harsh reality of vacuum (where traditional lubricants used in gearing otherwise outgas) make this challenge one of critical importance. Equipment such as robotic actuation and manipulators are needed to handle objects and perform tasks, such as in-space servicing, assembly, and maintenance (ISAM). Honor unveils humanoid robot alongside new AI devices at Mobile World Congress

March 8, 2026 by David Edwards

Honor has unveiled its first humanoid robot as part of a broader push into artificial intelligence devices at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.

The company, best known for its smartphones, used the event to present a range of AI-powered products, including a concept “Robot Phone,” a new foldable handset and several computing devices. But the appearance of a humanoid robot on stage signaled the company’s intention to move beyond traditional consumer electronics into embodied AI systems.

According to Honor, the robot forms part of its wider strategy to develop intelligent machines that can operate in real-world environments and interact with people in more natural ways. [Read more…] about Honor unveils humanoid robot alongside new AI devices at Mobile World Congress

PwC predicts ‘moon economy’ will be worth around $127 billion by 2050

March 8, 2026 by David Edwards

As NASA revises Artemis and PwC outlines $127 billion revenue by 2050 for the ‘moon economy’, experts warn that alternative energy infrastructure, not just transportation, will determine whether lunar surface activities will survive long-term

NASA has recently announced major changes to its Moon landing program, Artemis. While crewed missions to the lunar surface were planned for 2028, the administration decided to add a preparatory step to test commercial landers in Earth’s orbit a year earlier, in 2027.

This change is meant to reduce risks and represents a shift toward more incremental mission design following recent Artemis delays and safety concerns exposed in February. Despite that, experts claim that transportation issues are just one part of the equation.

The latest PwC Lunar Market Assessment also highlights the growing economic importance of the Moon economy, projecting total revenues of $127.3 billion by 2050, and identifies solar energy systems as one of the priority technologies. Viewpoint: Why ‘always-on’ environments break most robotics deployments – and how to fix them

March 7, 2026 by David Edwards

By Nohtal Partansky, founder and CEO, and Patrick DeGrosse Jr, director of engineering, Sorting Robotics

Most robotics deployments don’t run into trouble because a motor was undersized or because someone wrote bad control logic. In our experience, the problems usually show up after the system leaves validation and starts operating in an environment that behaves nothing like the one it was tested in.

In a lab, conditions are stable and closely observed. The air is relatively clean, operators are attentive and specifically trained, and throughput is controlled. If something drifts out of calibration, it is usually caught early because the entire purpose of the environment is observation and testing. Production environments are built around output, not observation.

Once a system moves into a 24/7 facility, particularly in a regulated setting, the priorities shift. The machine is expected to keep up with volume targets, staffing rotates, and environmental variables that were minor during testing become persistent realities. That shift changes how small technical issues evolve into more serious problems over time.
