Robots integrate with automated storage and retrieval systems to deliver warehouse efficiency

January 7, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Automated storage and retrieval systems are becoming the backbone of modern warehouse logistics operations.

However, there is still the challenge of efficiently moving orders through the sorting process. Until recently, the only options were manually or by conveyor – but both have clear limitations.

Nowadays, a more flexible and future-proof solution is available: robots. Tijmen Verkooijen, bid and tender manager at Prime Vision, explains all. [Read more…] about Robots integrate with automated storage and retrieval systems to deliver warehouse efficiency

Thira Robotics launches new generation of autonomous mobile robots

March 14, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Thira Robotics, a South Korean autonomous mobile robots (AMR) developer and a subsidiary of smart factory solutions leader THiRA UTech, has officially launched in the US market, providing AMR to navigate facility conditions previously not fit for automation.

Thira Robotics offers solutions to healthcare, manufacturing, and supply chain industries to overcome physical barriers to technology adoption. Their launch coincides with Promat 2023, held in Chicago starting March 20th.

Peter Kim, CEO of Thira Robotics, says: “Some plants with poor conditions struggle to integrate AMR successfully. Now, older manufacturers don’t need to remodel to integrate. With Thira Robotics, robotization is possible for facilities not fit for automation. [Read more…] about Thira Robotics launches new generation of autonomous mobile robots

Wings and Rings partners with Miso Robotics to begin Flippy 2 pilot

July 16, 2022 by David Edwards

Miso Robotics, the company transforming the restaurant industry with robotics and intelligent automation, has started a partnership with Wings and Rings, a club-level sports restaurant chain serving signature wings and other chef-inspired menu items, to begin a piloted test of Flippy 2 in its Crestview Hills, Kentucky location, with possible plans for further integration in the months ahead.

Built on the Miso Platform, Flippy 2 leverages artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision and data analytics to maximize efficiency in the commercial kitchen.

As the first wing concept to integrate Flippy 2 in a real restaurant environment versus a test kitchen, Wings and Rings sees robotics as the next evolution in alleviating the long-term challenges that the ongoing labor shortage has brought to the entire restaurant industry. Magna to develop ‘affordable’ electric motor

November 25, 2019 by Sam Francis

Magna has been awarded a grant by the US Department of Energy to develop and “auto-qualify” advanced electric motor technologies for next-generation vehicle propulsion systems.

In partnership with the Illinois Institute of Technology and University of Wisconsin-Madison, Magna is applying its powertrain, electronics and full-vehicle expertise to deliver an automotive-grade, high-performance electric motor that aims to achieve increased power density and reduced cost compared to current e-motors.

The project objective is to develop an electric motor that is half the cost and eight times the power density, while delivering 125 kW of peak power – similar to packing a gallon of milk into a pint-size container. [Read more…] about Magna to develop ‘affordable’ electric motor
