Bosch is expanding its expertise in automated driving and strengthening its market position with the acquisition of Atlatec, a developer of high-definition maps for autonomous driving and simulation.
Atlatec will become part of the Bosch Cross-Domain Computing Solutions division as an independently operated company. Bosch and Atlatec have now signed agreements to this effect.

Tompkins Robotics has launched its new tSort3D mobile robot, designed to increase the number of sort destinations while reducing the footprint of a system.
tSort3D allows 6 to 8 times the sort destinations in the same space as other traditional automated sortation solutions, provides for thousands of sort destinations, volumes up to 20,000 an hour, and facilitates a single, very large batch pick.

The term “smart warehouse” refers to a warehouse in which many aspects of the warehousing operations are automated in order to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy of the operations.
This allows for more adaptability and capacity in the warehouse’s procedures and staff. In the traditional warehouse, to convey goods to the shipping docks, employees have lists of items that need to be picked up.
However, in the smart warehouse, robot carts load the ordered items into containers and then deliver them to workers for the next step making every little task automated. The other day, I got an email asking me to participate in a survey regarding robots in hotels. Basically, the people behind the study wanted to gauge how comfortable respondents were about letting robots and AI systems take care of different aspects of their stay.
Would they be happy to check in without ever speaking to a human? What about having a robot clean their rooms?
The reason this survey stuck with me is that it posited the possibility that hotels would be staffed by robots in the near future. I wondered if it would be people coming to stay in hotels who would delay this from happening due to technophobia. BlueBotics, a developer of navigation systems for automated guided vehicles and autonomous mobile robots, has been acquired by Zapi Group.
Zapi is a global provider of electrification and manufacturer of electronic speed controllers, electric motors, battery chargers, and associated products for electric and hybrid vehicles.

Comau has developed and implemented an automated electric vehicle drive assembly line for Geely Automobile, one of China’s largest automakers, at the Geely Veremt plant in Ningbo, China.
The assembly line is specifically created for the end-to-end assembly of the electric motor, gearbox and inverter.
Designed in close collaboration with the Geely team, the complete line uses a flexible automatic production system to assemble the permanent magnet motor rotors, gearboxes and electronics drives, in addition to automated quality control and testing.
